On this trip home, I was leading a small convoy of three of my kids in two other cars. We’re helping my daughter move.
I kept trying to get my girls to drive a little more assertively in traffic by suggesting lane changes on the two-way radio. She kept hanging back too far and I finally reminded her that tailgating only counts if the bumpers are touching.
Ha ha! One reason (apart from $), that I am still driving my 2003 BMW. The cup holders in the new models are the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

No kidding. I hate driving the wife-unit’s Prius. There are THREE locations to control the audio system...lower dash buttons, upper screen and the steering wheel...none of which perform ALL functions. Your hand and eyes have to bounce from one to another to accomplish your goal of turning on and adjusting the various elements of the system. Get some greasy smudges on the screen, or the sun shines on it, and it’s FUBARed.
I won’t even discuss the HVAC system.
That’s interesting. The person we saw texting and driving yesterday had NJ license plates. In Ohio. Every time we spot an erratic driver texting, it’s licensed in an east coast state like NJ and NY.

Does the same rule apply to bottled water? Isn't unscrewing the cap a hazard?
A friend bought a new car. On the door was a place to place a bottle. It even was labelled "bottle". I laughed and asked him when is he going to place a bottle of wine there. BTW, there was no ashtray in the car. Dumb. Where's he going to put the change? There were so many gizmos in that car, which I found would be a distraction while driving.
I used to ride a bus back and forth to work, as the commute was grating on my nerves. For a hundred-and-fifty bucks a month, free parking, and an allowable excuse for traffic (my company allowed tardiness when riding public transport, but not in POVs) jams that caused delays in arrival, my sanity was quite relieved.
I looked out the window one day, and noted a woman driving with her knee, one hand holding the cell phone while the other was applying eye-liner.
We were doing about 50 MPH at that point.

When are they going to take out the AC/Heat, radio etc? All those things make you take your eyes off the road.

That is a great item for preppers to start a fire :). I loved pushing them in and waiting...by the time it popped out, you had time to figure out if you wanted that cigarette or not. Now it's just a bic lighter and an ashtray in one of the cup holders. Instant gratification.
