Dear Mr. Priebus:

I recently received from you a plea – your second notice – that I complete and return the survey of my views on current issues in the United States. My views would help the party develop a campaign strategy for the important weeks ahead.

I recently dropped my registration in the Republican Party, so my opinions are irrelevant to your survey. I do, however, hope that the views expressed in this note will be of help.

I have been a registered Republican since 1969. As I have gotten older and wiser, it has become apparent to me that the GOP is the second head (a donkey represents the other) of a creature that is run by wealthy, powerful, and evil entities which have gained control of nearly every institution and business in this country. Oh, the heads squabble dramatically for the voters, and are fairly successful in convincing us that they really have a different agenda for the future, but the charade is wearing thin. The emperor’s clothes are fading away. Enter Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, offering some truth that the powers-that-be find intolerable. I understand that none of this is news to you.

I cannot in good conscience support the Republican Party any longer. The attempts by a number of party leaders to undermine the primary process and otherwise derail the instincts of the voters who favor Mr. Trump is the last straw in a decades-long growing frustration with the apparent impotence of the Republicans. No impact on the progressive agenda as it has unfolded, even now, after nearly two years of control of the House and Senate, must lead to the inescapable conclusion that the GOP is cooperating with that agenda.

I am done with being lied to by party leaders.

As some leaders of the GOP have started expressing preference for Hillary Clinton over Mr. Trump, their true allegiance to the aforementioned powers rather than the American people becomes obvious. Their self-righteous condemnation of Trump’s views and persona only strengthen his popularity, because a lot of people, like me, are no longer impressed by anything these people have to say and assume the opposite must be true. I am always amused by complaints that Mr. Trump is a boorish, clumsy speaker. How many smooth-talking politicians have screwed over the American people during the past 50 years? I offer up our current president as a prime example, and I regret that Paul Ryan falls in the same category.

These are difficult times for our country and the world. It would help if there existed a political party that actually possessed a modicum of integrity and would actually fight for a healthy economy and a foreign policy that was based on some sort of realistic assessment of America’s place in the world. I suggest the reform of the GOP into an organization that actually pursues the values it espouses would change everything.

Right. I will join a new party of substance. As the republicans replaced the Whigs etc. perhaps a tea party. Nothing like that here now or on the horizon.

Till then I will remain a registered republican. You make the assumption that I wish to associate with politicians of any stripe. I purposely don’t associate with politicians, lawyers, actors or any other phonies. And when I vote it’s usually with my nose being held. The only time I didn’t hold my nose was for Reagan. I would be a Libertarian except I tend to be more conservative than them and they refuse to defend America if she is attacked and their liberal abortion stance.

Currently my ability to pick a better candidate in the primaries trumps(small t) joining a party that hasn’t a chance in the general

We have to work on those Bernie supporters. He rounded them up, led them to slaughter, and then abandoned them. A lot, perhaps most of them, are still delusional in thinking that the platform platitudes mean anything. They'll be squashed like bugs, and voting will matter EVEN LESS in the future, across the spectrum, if Trump doesn't prevail.

When hillary loses, they can empty out the trash in their party, but it's the only way that's gonna' happen.

How do we turn that into a short message they'll follow?

I also recently changed my voter registration and quit the Republican Party to become an independent. Basically the same reasons.

Trump is not my ideal candidate, but he won the primaries fair and square. He got the most votes and was the people’s choice. If the party leaders don’t like the result they should take time to reflect on why people are so fed up and angry instead of working to undermine a popular and dynamic candidate. With the parties help Trump can win and the GOP can enact change that will help set the country right for generations. But what they are doing to undermine his candidacy is really bad - not as disgusting as what the dems and their media allies are doing - but bad enough I no longer want to be associated with them.

Trump is running as a Republican. We want him to be our next president. Why don’t we think of it this way - we are using the ‘Republican’ name (like the RINOs) but in a different way. We are utilizing all their resources to get our man elected! Don’t give up now when we are making such great progress! Get our leaders in, even if it is just one at a time! Focus on our goals! If we cannot fight them, we change them! Changing a party is not easy. It takes time -
the left, the globalists, the elites, the Muslims, the socialists/communists have worked patiently the last 50+ years to infiltrate the parties. We were asleep, but now we are awake. Luckily we have Trump rising up to lead us in the long hard fight! Take advantage of this!
Forget about the R and the D. We get our leaders in and work hard to change the political climate/culture. At the home-front, educate our children to be independent thinkers to counter the brain-washing effects of the ‘schools’ and the ‘media’ and the pop culture.

The most important outcome of this year’s election process is the final removal of the facade of the “two-party” system.

It is now clear to even the most obtuse observer that the DNC, GOPe and MSM are merged into the DC Uni-Party and “We The People” are on the outside, looking in, with our begging bowls in hand.

Their greatest fear is that the Trump Movement will morph into a competing political party to do wide-spread battle with the DC Uni-Party.

That’s a good question because most people don’t have time, much less the inclination, for a lecture they didn’t sign up for.

I’d have to think about it but my initial thought is to point out that the corruption they so despise will certainly continue in a Clinton presidency, as she has vowed to carry the same torch as obama does now.

Then ask if they’re aware of Trump’s stated goals. Have they seen any of his rallys/speeches?

Have a YouTube or site address at the ready to refer them to. If they are serious about the country, they will at least take a look.

If they just want to sound off or have an argument you’ll know that too.

I think you’re right on when you think it’s best to keep it short and sweet. Who knows where it can lead?
