Meryl Streep was pictured getting ready to address the Democratic National Convention this evening – as more than 100 celebrities joined a campaign to urge Americans to deny Donald Trump the White House.

The legendary actress wore a cream-colored high-necked dress and glasses as she rehearsed her speech and did a sound check on stage at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Tuesday afternoon.

On the second night of the convention in Philadelphia, other stars taking the stage include Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks, Girls creator Lena Dunham, actress America Ferrera and Scandal star Tony Goldwyn - who have all been regulars on the Hillary Clinton campaign trail.

Alicia Keys is set to perform this evening and was pictured rehearsing during the afternoon, wearing a denim jumpsuit and colorful headwrap.

Former president Bill Clinton will also speak, followed by an appearance by Streep.

It comes after a string of celebrities took the stage on the opening night on the convention, including Eva Longoria, Sarah Silverman and Demi Lovato.

Meanwhile, Julianne Moore, Bryan Cranston, Kerry Washington, Mark Ruffalo, Neil Patrick Harris, Shonda Rhimes, and Macklemore are among numerous famous names who have signed MoveOn.org Political Action's #UnitedAgainstHate campaign.

Claudia went thru a very bad time in her life battling alcoholism.
She had bought $20k worth of rare French wines and in one weekend, drank it all.

At one time she was totally broke.
She is well on the path to recovery but it was clear their were many things she regrets.

Used to watch movie reviews by Siskel and Ebert. Their take on things were interesting even if I didn’t always agree. When it came to Meryl Streep, they both raved about her to the point of idolization. It was astounding the respect they had for her.

When you’re a comedian and you’re on, you know it. It feeds you and sometimes it shows.

I get that when I watch Streep in her performances. It’s as if she knows everyone idolizes her, and it’s really annoying.

I have no idea how this all started, but I could care less if I ever see another of her performances, or even fail to hear her name.

I have never seen her in a role where I thought to myself, nobody else could have done this as well as she did.

The irony to see all these wealthy, privileged elites appearing on the same night that we heard from the oppressed underclass. The very privileged class they attack is sharing the same stage on the same evening.

No one respects this crowd of over-paid losers but the publishers of People magazine and the Democrat media hacks.

Keep in mind that actors are people that are paid to create illusions.

Not really, the only they'd heard of would be Olivia Wilde, others are on the wrong side of 40...and Lena Dunham.

Meryl Streep always plays the whiny hurt woman, the vulnerable victim. Some woman identify with the role, until they learn they can move on from victim to adult.

Looked her up on IMDb, and had to go all the way back to late-70s ‘Kramer v Kramer’ and ‘Deer Hunter’ to remember seeing her in anything. Meh.

She got turned down for King Kong in 76 so I read. Because she was too ugly. I agree. All I can say is that she must have done some real impressive couch work to get her start.

There is nothing about this woman I find appealing.

Ah Yes. I remember Harry Mudd from the original Star Trek, and his nagging wife.

I can see, I’m not the only one, who is reminded of characters such as Harry’s wife when I have to listen to HIllary lecturing and hectoring us.

Is this her at the convention? I didn’t see her speak. But she looks like she is dressed to go workout in the martial arts. What kind of outfit is that?
