Newt Gingrich spoke with Fox Newss Greta Van Susteren live from Clevelands Quicken Loans Arena on Day One of the RNC convention Monday night. At the beginning of their conversation, they addressed the controversy around who is and who isnt present at the convention as the Republican Party gets ready to crown Donald Trump their 2016 nominee.
At least one speaker, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), has yet to endorse the GOP nominee. Susteren asked Gingrich if he believed Trumps former presidential opponent would finally announce his support for Trump during his speech Wednesday night.
Well I hope he does endorse him, Gingrich said.
If he doesnt?
I think itll be sad, Gingrich said. Itll be a betrayal.
Considering Cruz is getting ready to head back to the Senate, Gingrich argued it would be in Cruzs best interests to be on Trumps good side.
He knows its helpful to Trump that hes here, he said. At the same time, hes going back to the Senate. This is a significant step in this direction."
As for Ohio Gov. John Kasich and his staff, who have refused to attend this weeks convention, Gingrich said they seem to be in their own world.
`You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.’
You “true conservatives” are on my last nerve.
Trump or Clinton. Choose, “true conservative”.
Excellent point.
I believe he will not endorse and it will ruin his political career. He’s lacks vision and he lacks effective strategies and he lacks good character. He is deluded enough to believe this has all been a fluke and that if he can just do it over again, he’ll be victorious. The truth is people now see his lack of ethics is a serious problem he will never overcome. He better just stay in Texas.
I agree. No Lyn’ Ted. He had his chance.
I think he’s wrong.
Cruz should get a speech mid convention; talk about generic Republican things & Texas things & concerns about Texas border, etc.
No need to give some Elmer Gantry-esque endorsement of Trump.
He doesn’t even need to endorse Trump.
If anything the feuding makes Trump look unable to be less likely by any wing of the GOP or donors or beltway.
Damn straight, and I’m an ex-Cruz guy.
Give the miserable twit enough rope and watch.
You must have gotten lost from another thread.
This thread is about Ted Cruz.
A true conservative ya say!!!!!? Good Lord. Are you serious? If so, I see there are still a few LoFo’s that the globalist illegals and muslims lover, Teddy Bears Cruz, still has faked out of their jocks. He and his NAU/Goldman Sachs/NWO agenda pushing freaky ‘wife’ can just get lost. For good.
Thank you for confirming what everyone else here already figured out for themselves, long ago: Ted Cruz's word of honor is absolutely, 110% w-o-r-t-h-l-e-s-s.
Newt is right, And one other thing.....Cruz will never become a Republican candidate for president. He will have to switch parties.
wny is an abbreviation for whiny? Who woulda think it?
Cruz is not a conservative. He’s a Juan Peron wannabe, but he’s lacking a few things that Peron had. Like courage, charisma, a military background, personality, populist instinct and a charming if duplicitous wife. But other than that, he’s got it made.
Lol!
Here's some lotion :)
Way to go, Newt!
I have no idea when he is up and you are correct it would be a smart thing for him to talk about what you said, which he probably will do. We just have to wait and see.
“If Hillary gets elected America is unfixable for the next 25-30 years.”
You haven’t seen the immigration projections based on our CURRENT immigration laws for the next 40 years? If Hillary gets elected, the country is over FOREVER.
>Just to make it easier on everyone, I trust that Cruz will endorse Trump. Thats smart for Trump, Cruz and conservatism in the long run. There are many other features of the speech, though, that matter perhaps even more.
He may not. The never Trumperes actions this morning where about establishing that the GOPe is on Trump’s side which lets Cruz and his merry band of butt pirates claim to the true conservatives and oppose Trump and how they’re defrauded of their vote. A member of the Utah delegation is already claiming death threats from Trump supporters and is talking to the media about it. This entire thing sounds like a setup to torpedo Trump organized by Cruz, Romney, and Obama.
