Give it another year, I'm sure some new taxes, regulations and increased energy costs should push that number right up to 50.

There seems to be a pattern with states in the bottom, democrats, high taxes and public unions.

Minnesota in the Top Five? Seriously??
With double-digit state income tax rates and the Democrat-Farmer-Labor-Nutjob Party running the show? Hard to believe.

” Connecticut ranked higher than two other New England states Maine, ranked 46th, and Rhode Island, ranked 50th.”
CT is textbook lesson in Laffer Curve econ.
Last year CT raised corporate taxes and MA lowered corporate taxes.
GE left CT last year for MA.
CT now has higher tax rates and less revenue, MA has lower tax rates and more revenue.
RI is mostly impoverished.

As a CPA in CT working with small businesses, I say this ranking is bogus. We are at least 57th.

I live in Connecticut but commute to New York to work.
Connecticut even worse than Massachusetts for business. Nice place to live if you can afford it. I'm surrounded by FOR SALE signs.

California and Connecticut are two great examples of what happens when a formerly Republican state goes full Democrat. So is Venezuela, for that matter.

I'll say this: the state of Connecticut MUST be concerned that ESPN is literally paying for much of the state's income tax revenue (ESPN is based in Bristol, CT). If ESPN decides to leave (and they have plenty of space at the land owned by Disney nearly Orlando, FL to accommodate the full ESPN studio setup), Connecticut would turn into a writ large version of Detroit or Baltimore.

Here in a wealthy suburb of Hartford County. The insurance industry is shrinking rapidly here. Innumerable for sale signs everywhere.
