On Fridays PBS NewsHour, New York Times columnist David Brooks argued that in the discussions after the shooting of police officers in Dallas, and the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, it doesnt help that we have an American political debate with basically one all-white party.
Brooks began by saying, The question, to me, is, are we going to speak out in a way that is actual dialogue and conversation, or are we going to drift into tribal thinking? Theres been a lot of rancid overgeneralizations in our society, that all African men behind the wheel are dangerous, that all Muslims are somehow involved in terrorism, that all cops are somehow at war with communities. And if we can speak in a way thats not tribalistic, thats not making these generalizations, then we may make something out of the current moment. But Im not always hopeful after a bad week like this one.
He later added, [W]hen people are in a period of bad mood, then they want to hunker down and protect. And thats the exact opposite from what we need now. And lets be frank, it doesnt help that we have an American political debate with basically one all-white party. And that just means we fall along very polarized lines, when we fall into the normal default position of politics, that we fall along racially polarized lines. And we have to acknowledge thats an inherently dangerous situation, given everything else thats happening.

He does understand the demographics of the country....right?
The Federales overtax the States who are then forced to become beggars to get some of their money back but this is only remitted on the Federales terms. Strings attached. Chains attached.

All ‘Rats are statist, Commie Socialists. Lazy thieves.
Nothing stopping them. Al Roker has been around for how many years?

I Wish Whites would vote in the same Racist way Blacks and Browns do...
Please bear in mind that one of the very few powers that the states have delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for where federal domestic policy is concerned is to run the US Mail Service. This is evidenced by the Constitutions Clause 7 of Section 8 of Article I.
In other words, you can bet that most other federal social spending programs are unconstitutional, the federal funding for these programs being stolen state revenues that should never have left the states in the first place, and win most of your bets.
If low-information state lawmakers were to wise up put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes, effectively eliminating an unconstitutional middleman, then the individual states would have much more revenues to spend on their respective citizens.
David Brooks is an ass.
That’s an insult to asses.
Thank you W for the "religion of peace" LIE, and for failing your sworn oath to the Constitution!
Exaclty right.
And the left has no intention of allowing their slaves to leave the plantation and join the party of the free anyway.
David Brooks...David Brooks...isn’t he some sort of men’s-wear salesman?
“That crease in your trousers completes your look!”
Hey Gay Brooksie...it doesn’t help that BLACKS, HISPANICS, GAYS and DUMB VAGINAS vote for ONE PARTY!!!
Obozo also speaks that way.... it is the language of weak minded emasculated over-schooled males who are trying to sound oh so sensitive.....
The Republican Party was started by abolitionists from the Whig Party to work towards an end to slavery. The Republican Party were the first party known to elect blacks to positions of legislative authority. Alexander L. Twilight (17951857), party unknown but previous to the creation of the Republican Party, was the first black elected as a State Legislator for the state of Vermont in 1836 until his death in 1857,
Alexander Lucius Twilight (September 23, 1795 June 19, 1857) was an American educator, minister and politician. He is the first African-American known to have earned a bachelor's degree from an American college or university, graduating from Middlebury College in 1823. He was licensed as a Congregational preacher and worked in education and ministry all his career. In 1829 Twilight became principal of the Orleans County Grammar School. There he designed and built Athenian Hall, the first granite public building in the state. In 1836 he was the first African-American elected as a state legislator, serving in the Vermont General Assembly; he was also the only African-American ever elected to a state legislature before the Civil War.
In 1866, Massachusetts elected 2 black Republicans as State Legislators, Edward G. Walker (18311901) & Charles L. Mitchell (1829-1912).
Can't really find anything about Charles L. Mitchell. Interestingly enough Edward G. Walker while in office Walker opposed many Republican ideas and consequently the party refused to re-nominate him in 1867. Undeterred, Walker became a Democrat, leading a number of Boston African Americans to desert the GOP for the Democratic Party.
Walker forged alliances with many well known Boston politicians including Democratic General and Civil War hero Benjamin F. Butler, who was elected Governor of the state in 1883. Butler, in turn, nominated Walker as a judge. However, the Republicans in the legislature refused to ratify the nomination and instead gave the judgeship to a loyal African American Republican, George L. Ruffin. Walker was nominated again for three judgeships but was rejected each time by the Republican-dominated Massachusetts legislature.
Partly in response to his difficulties as a rare black Democrat, Walker and other black leaders including George T. Downing of Rhode Island, initiated in 1885 the Negro Political Independence Movement. Five years later, in 1890, Walker was elected president of the Colored National League. In 1896 he received the nomination for the U.S. Presidency by the Negro Party, a short-lived third party movement.
Meanwhile the southern faction of the Democrat Party created the KKK.
The fact that blacks vote as a racist block is no problem at all though, is it Mr. Creased Pants Orgasm?
BTW, the “all white” party is basically the KKK Democrats. There is only one black senator in the Senate. He’s a Republican. There’s only one black on the Supreme Court. He’s a Republican. MSNBC is almost entirely white.
Dear David:
I don’t care what your skin color is. I do care about your [sic] Marxist ideology.
Brown skin won’t kill me. A brown skin Marxist will.
