Italy (Ammoland.com) Pope Francis spoke with a group of young people at a rally of thousands at the end of the first day of his trip to the Italian city of Turin.
Francis started by attacking the Right to Keep and Bear Arms as well as accusing the allies during World War Two of being complicit in the killing of Jews, Christians and homosexuals.
Francis issued his toughest condemnation to date of the weapons industry, saying.
If you trust only men you have lost, he told the young people in a long, rambling talk about war, trust and politics after putting aside his prepared address.
It makes me think of people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesnt it? he said to applause.
He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries (gun owners), saying duplicity is the currency of today they say one thing and do another.
Francis also built on comments he has made in the past about events during the first and second world wars.
He spoke of the tragedy of the Shoah, using the Hebrew term for the Holocaust.
The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody. Why didnt they bomb (the railway lines)?
It is surely an upside down world when the representative of G* on earth disparages the right to self defense and accuses the Greatest Generation of being complicit in Hitlers genocide and the destruction of Europe and Russia.
The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody. Why didnt they bomb (the railway lines)?Yeah, y'know, because bombs dropped out of planes are not destructive like, oh, firearms.

I’m thinking he’s about to marry his boy lover.
Man, they are really coming after us on all sides right now, aren’t they? Be steady of heart and keep a strong hand on the wheel.
So NOT impressed with this guy. I miss BXVI
I miss St. John Paul II. This guy is such a Putz.
Ummm, you meant "example", not "proof".
Even a cursory reading of medieval history regarding the popes shows that very few showed signs of divine inspiration (never mind divinity) unalloyed by mortal failings.
OTOH, a divinely inspired human can do a world of good from such a position of authority, and some have.
We aren’t supposed to judge others, yet it is okay to judge me because I have shares in gun stocks?
Pathetic.
This pope should wear clown shoes.
He’s a buffoon.
There are some who are very well trained, wear suits and carry handguns.
Sorry, Pope, you don’t get to decide that one. I believe we’ll just leave that between ourselves and God.
But you just go right ahead, and like the US Congress, continue showing how irrelevant you are.
Has anybody considered that whenever rabid leftists want to destroy something (for example education), they start infiltrating the organization with leftists, and slowly get their guys into positions of power, eventually getting their top guys into the top positions?
I’m fairly certain I wouldn’t want to be pounding red-hot iron while barefoot and almost naked.
As a Christian, I am to leave my loved ones at the mercy of the bad guyz? A person enters my home late at night and attempts to rape my daughter or wife and I'm to cower and let it happen because I'm not to own a gun or support the gun lobby?
That seems like an immoral thing to do. Did God not make the man the stronger vessel? Wasn't the man to provide and protect his family? Would God look down on me for protecting my family?
I think not.
If you trust only men you have lost,
Failure to understand that men are creation of God with the ability to be inspired by the grace of God to be God’s hand on earth is a failure of belief.
More proof of my claim that the church left me as opposed to me leaving the church.
What about those producers of wine and other alcoholic beverages? These cause far more health and societal problems than guns.
As a reminder....Peter carried.
Did the Pope say something about self-defense? Maybe he did, I don't know. Can you help?
Pope asks a fair question. The answers that I've read revolve around limits in munitions (bombs) and aircraft shortages, and range all the way toward the difficulty in destroying rail lines without a sustained air campaign (re-strikes).
I've read FDR didn't want the war to become one of saving the Jews in Europe. It was easier to rally the people around defeating the Nazis than saving the Jews.
