A former adviser to Donald Trump floated Utah Rep. Mia Love on Friday as a possible pick for vice president on the real-estate mogul's ticket.
"If you were to name some people that nobody is talking about, to keep an eye on with the vice president [pick] who would you say we should keep our eye on?" asked Brian Kilmeade, a Fox News Radio host.
The former adviser, Michael Caputo, prefaced his answer by saying he was "never in those discussions" because they were "above my pay grade."
That said, he provided a couple names.
"The two people I think you should look at - and these are unorthodox. First is Mia Love, the congresswoman, somebody who is an African-American leader with really bright ideas and an ability to communicate," Caputo said.
"Is there a relationship there?" Kilmeade asked.
"There is. People are looking at her. There is an incredible opportunity for the Republican Party," Caputo replied.

Can some one tell me, good and bad, about Senator Rob Portman, Ohio?
This olde Florida boy keeps hearing Republicans need Ohio, why.
I sure as hell hope not. Lyin’ Loon Ted Cruz shouldn’t be allowed near the White House, even on a tour.
Don’t pick a woman, Trump. Just don’t do it. Enough “firsts,” they haven’t gone well. Get a strong man. Ted Cruz, Allen West, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Little Marco, etc. ANYONE but a woman.
Agree 100%.
I have no idea if either of them (Nehlen or Kelli Ward) have a snowball’s chance, but I have - and will continue - to support both, to assist in the removal of the career politicians/globalist RINOs McQueeg and RYNO.
Love turned ‘moderate’ as soon as she crossed the Potomac.
This is just another name some sycophant throws out to see whether it might stick.
Love has 2 years of legislative experience in DC. Trump said he wanted someone who KNOWS the system. That is not her.
Next name to throw against the wall?
Mia Love is ready to be President? I’m not convinced.
I like Alan West.....the best!!!
NO RINOS!!!!
Bachmann could add a lot to the campaign
Tom Tancredo.
We don’t need another black right after zero. To get this fixation on race out of the way we need a white man.
If people spent a hour on the internet checking out the backgrounds of VP-list names, they could cut the list by half or more.
Instead, someone looks good on TV or gave a good speech at some event and, wallah! let’s put him/her as VP on the ticket.
The VP slot may be a do-little position, but it is still one heartbeat away from the presidency. The individual in that position should have stellar qualifications.
Ohio is really needed and Portman sounds good to me.
“Am I wrong to think that some such voters could be persuaded”
Yeah, pretty much. When they throw “racist” they’re pretty much always lying.
No one is talking much about Gov. Rick Scott. I would vote for him with Trump.
I thought Mia had fell out of favor because she had been morphing more to the mainstream? Now she’s back in mostly because she’s black? Ready. Shoot. Aim?
I seriously doubt she’s being considered for VP. She has already announced she’s not even going to bother to attend the convention.
Ms. Love will bring nothing to a Trump ticket, nothing at all, except endless focus on "women", "minority", "blah, blah", in discussions and debates all through the campaign.
Of course, bear in mind, this is the season for both parties to regularly throw out numerous names as potential veeps to give them publicity, gravitas and/or a boost in their home political districts and local newspapers.
This name-tossing is and has been done EVERY election cycle from time immemorial, so don't get all excited over this veep "candidate" or that being tossed out right up to convention time.
As the Good Book says..."many are called but only one is chosen"...or sumpin'.
