What to Expect When Trump Meets 900 Evangelical Leaders Tuesday
CP Politics ^ | 6/19/16 | Anugrah Kumar

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's closed-door meeting Tuesday with 900 top evangelical and social conservative leaders will be a time of questions and answers on issues such as the Supreme Court, sanctity of life and religious freedom, according to an organizer, who said a similar meeting is being discussed also with Trump's rival Hillary Clinton.

"Of the more than 50,000 questions that came in, many of them focused on those three issues. Others focused on issues related to leadership, national security, and faith," Johnnie Moore, the spokesperson for My Faith Votes, a non-partisan organization focused on engaging the 25 million Christians who did not vote in 2012 and one of the two groups behind the meeting, told The Christian Post.

"We democratized the solicitation of questions so that this meeting would be even more representative of Christians in America than the 900 people in attendance," Moore said. The meeting, "A Conversation About America's Future with Donald Trump and Ben Carson," will be held in New York City. Both organizers My Faith Votes and United in Purpose seek to bring about cultural change in America based on Judeo-Christian principles and motivate and mobilize people of faith in the democratic process through responsible citizenship.

Asked how Trump intends to ease concerns of evangelical leaders, Moore said the purpose of the meeting is not to persuade anyone, "but to better introduce everyone to one another."

I wish my faith were as strong as yours...I would not have to put as much pressure on myself to find ways to act!

Check Private Email for great idea...another one.

I hope you are right...I want them to cooperate in, not obstruct, his election.

>> “at least they are Christian” That is a huge lie. Perhaps some are, but the majority are not church going, believing individuals. Look at the thug mentality wherever they live. I find that argument to be a strawman. It sounds nice, but reality says differently. <<

I agree. I refuse to believe some immigrant woman having 8 kids out of wedlock with 3 fathers is a good Christian. America isn't become more Christian due to hordes of third world immigration, is becoming less Christian and more secular.

>> That has more to do with churches getting government money to accept and house “refugees.” This is why the Catholic Church pushes illegal immigration. Follow the money! Most churches are hurting financially. <<

Many of the major churches in America are doing it, not just the Catholics. Adalberto United Methodist Church in Chicago famously housed the illegal alien "activist" Elvira Arellano, for example.

>> Trump has been endorsed by the Grahams, Jeffries and Peterson! I think Osteen endorsed also. Trump has big churches. Evangelicals and Charismatics are very supportive of Trump. Trump has large support among Christians. <<

A bunch of "Evangelicals" go out of their way to make sure everyone knows publicly that they don't respect the Pope's authority and don't give a hoot what he says. I will return the favor and make it known publicly that I am not a "Evangelical" and don't give a hoot what their self-appointed "leaders" like Franklin Graham, Jeffries and Peterson, Osteen, etc. have to say. Evangelicals are about 25% of the population in this country. They do not represent all Christians, nor anywhere close to a majority. They can recommend whatever they want to their "flock" -- I'm not a member and don't care what they have to say.

>> they discovered that Cruz’s 7 Mountain Dominionism faith is an unscriptual cult <<

I don't have any problem with Ted Cruz's faith. He wasn't my first choice for President but he seems to be a pretty sincere Southern Baptist Christian to me. He is one of very rare examples of a "Tea Party" Senate candidate that kept his campaign promises once he went to Washington. His minister dad, whether I agree with his denomination's theology or not, seems to be pretty spiritually faithful and devout.

I would take issue with the ridiculous argument that others have made that Ted Cruz's family didn't "become Christian" until they joined the Southern Baptist Church. At most, you could make the case they were not PRACTICING Christians until then -- but if you buy a new car and park it in the garage and never use it, it won't change the fact you have a car.

A Trump supporter actually made the argument that Cruz's southern Baptist faith is "extremely flexible" with moral beliefs and you can do ANYTHING you want and be a good southern baptist UNLESS you drink alcohol, gamble, or don't tithe. IF Cruz's religion actually believed that ('having lots of abortions is a-okay with us, but take one sip of wine and yer excommunicated and goin' to hell, son"), I'd agree that he belongs to an "unscriptual cult". Fortunately for him, I think this FReeper was talking out of his butt about what is required to be a faithful Christian in the Baptist Church. I know plenty of Baptists who have an occasional mild drink and I also know many who say tithing 10% of your income is not required for salvation in the SBC.

In any case, regardless of what southern baptists believe, I don't think its very helpful to ridicule and insult his faith if you're hoping to attract his supporters to the Trump camp. After "mainline Methodist" George W. Bush won the Republican primary over fervent "evangelical" Gary Bauer, his supporters didn't say Bauer was a member of a crazy unbiblical cult.

Not sure what your talking about.
My FR ID of edie1960 stands for using my nickname plus my year of birth.
Don’t know about any “w”????

Hi Edie,

After your FR ID, in parentheses is where the tagline is. It’s the (w) after your name that I was wondering about. Here is a copy of your post#10:

Strange!! I see what you’re asking about now. I have checked my FR account and several of my post but am clueless about what the (w) means after my name/FR ID.
I cannot imagine what the w in parentheses at this point.
All I know is that edie1960 represents my preferred (nick) name along with my year of birth.
If I solve this mystery, I will be certain to share what I discover with you asap.

Hi Edie,

My guess is this: When you click to make a new post, right under the box where you write, it says this:

Tagline: (optional, printed after your name on post):

Maybe by accident one time, the cursor jumped to that area where you can write your own Tagline, like the one you see after my name: Hillary is 100%Death for America...

If you would like to remove the (w), when you next post, just place your cursor over the box under where it says Tagline:, and delete that (w). Then post your message.

After that, it will remember that you have erased the (w), and it will be gone for all your subsequent posts.

Cheers : )

More political Christian BS, I imagine.

These people can't elect a dogcatcher in Alabama, and they constantly make demands grossly in excess to their ability to GOTV.

Hope the refreshments are nice.
