LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The 2-year-old boy who witnesses said was pulled by an alligator into a lagoon near a Walt Disney World hotel has been found dead, a source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN on Wednesday.

I know the origins of WDW. As I said, no REASONABLE PERSON would describe the Seven Seas Lagoon at the Grand Floridian Resort as “wilderness water.” I hope you would agree there is a REASONABLE expectation that your child isn’t going to be snatched off the beach there during a resort sponsored event, whether you’re from Nebraska or Connecticut or even Florida.

Thanks! I didn’t know that. We have relatives in Florida and have visited there since 1982, but the first time that I saw an alligator was during our last visit two years ago. It was on a golf course and appreared to be five to six feet long. What an amazing looking animal.

The way I see it they were walking along the “PONDS” edge.
2 year olds cant swim.

Maybe in time the couple will say ya know what we only had 2 because thats all we could afford.Now with this settlement lets have more.
It just blows me away because we all know familys that talk about going to this place for a year in advance,just as these guys did.
It is unimaginable that this could happen to any one.

second time parental neglect results in death of child, and animals are killed and blamed. The parents should feel bad and guilty over their obvious neglect. This should not be hung on disney, the parents should be held accountable.

They’re very well-camouflaged in swamp environments. They look like a partially submerged cypress root or log, even their eyes peering above water look like small cypress knees. They’re the same color as surrounding water and rotting vegetation, which is to say almost black.

It’s the shore near grass that gives them cover that is most dangerous .

They trap anything big they see move into that lagoon .
The problem is that the gators move a lot this time of year.

People do water sports all over Florida . That lagoon is no different .

There are sharks in the ocean , yet people swim and dive too .

I agree- I guess this will be a reality check for a lot of people.

I haven’t bought a pass at Disney since the prices sky rocketed so high, but my daughter says that the atmosphere of the parks have changed, that they over sell and the crowds are not worth the cost of going. Plus, the “fast passes” sold to the big spenders have changed the whole concept of Walt Disney’s vision of a family park.

Bigger stuff they drown and pin it under a log etc to rot before they feed.

Exactly my thought when I heard the outcome. As all, I am not connected to this family in any way. But the very thought that this little guy may have been ripped apart by an alligator, leaving nothing, was just unspeakable in even a strangers mind, let alone the parents. As horrific as it is, the thought that this primal creature simply drowned him and left is, I guess, better. I pray it was so quick that he didn’t know what was happening.

I REALLY DOBT understand why parents would spend this kind of money to take a 2 year old and a 4 year old to Disney world I would wait until they were 8 and 10 these little ones really don’t even know what is going on!!!

It’s my understanding that the best way to avoid an alligator is to run from side to side. Due to their long bodies, they aren’t very agile.

True. I thought he was ankle deep to learn he was 1-2 feet deep. With that said, who would know? Especially if signs are not posted. Southern coastal people know as 2nd thought, but someone from Nebraska?

There is unimaginable grief involved and his siblings must be terrified to sleep.

Why ? We have more now because of the increase in wild turkeys They like turkey eggs. We also have cyotes, deer and Eagles that are new in the last forty years. Last year a momma cougar joined the neighborhood and two years ago a neighbor spotted a black bear. It is getting more wild but the yearly hunting seasons keep everything in control
