LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The 2-year-old boy who witnesses said was pulled by an alligator into a lagoon near a Walt Disney World hotel has been found dead, a source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN on Wednesday.

Concur. Disney is notorious for fighting claims and lawsuits and the Mouse usually wins. But this is one case that Disney doesn’t want anywhere near a courtroom.
Given these tragic circumstances, even an ambulance chaser of modest skill could extract a huge jury award—and there are plenty of Central Florida attorneys who have been fighting Disney for years and would love to take this one to court.
And, don’t discount the mass tort crowd trying to find everyone who’s been chased or frightened by a gator at Disney bringing some sort of class action because the company tolerated dangerous, even deadly conditions for years. Doubt the plantiffs would see very much in way of a a settlement, but the lawyers really aren’t concerned, since they get the first cut of any settlement.
My heart goes out to the family. Losing a child for any reason is tragic; I cannot imagine the horror this family endured. If Disney decides to fight the parents in court, they will wind up writing a check that will make Bob Iger’s head explode. Mr. Iger (and his lawyers) aren’t that stupid.

You don’t go looking for lost balls around water hazards even in southeastern North Carolina due to alligators. The further north in their range you get, the smaller they tend to be, but that doesn’t preclude there being one large enough to seriously harm or kill you. They usually don’t unless provoked.
Same with Mountain Lions in California. Lions used to fear and avoid man, then they banned hunting them, now they have no fear of us which is why there were no mountain lion attacks for some 70 years, then over a dozen starting in the 1990s.

Yeah the gorilla incident doesnt come close..this was a tragic accident, who knows if they saw the sign that said “No swimming” since it was at night, but if I saw that same sign I would think it was a warning about drowning, not about alligators..this family was from Nebraska, what do they know about alligators, same goes for me, Im in LA, never seen one before. No amount of money will bring this child back, Disney will settle but it doesnt matter, this family will never be the same again
Not to disagree with you, but I have visited this spot at WDW many times with my daughter and grandkids who live nearby and go for evening walks along that path often.
The fact that just feet away there are nighttime Disney movies on the beach leads to the feeling that it is a safe area. This was a disaster waiting to happen. There is a feeling that all is man-made at Disney, and not an expectation of alligators in the water. A “No Swimming” sign does not relay enough information, if that was the purpose of the sign.

You could give me a billion dollars and it would not erase the loss or the pain. I wouldn't sue and I don't know what I would do with the blood money. It is a horrible tragedy. We all brought our children to Disney World looking forward to their joy and great happiness in seeing Mickey, etc. To have your child die so tragically is so very sad. Sheesh, Judge Nap describing The Grand Floridian as Jurassic Park at night is ridiculous.
I had no idea that there were alligators in North Carolina. Even the little ones can do some real damage.

I don’t disagree....It is a lulling on one’s senses.
I haven’t been to the Florida Disney but I have been many times to the California Disney. Decades ago Disney was a pleasant place to have some fun. Over the years my guard goes up more and more. When taking my daughter to enjoy Disney I kept her close. We had a good time but it was much more restricted than when I had gone before.
The last time I went it wasn’t animal vermin that were the concern. The number of turd world entitled folks who would large in lines, run over people, steal your purchases, spit at you, push and laugh as they were more and more rude as the day went on....by night time it was not really a safe place to be.
Just suggesting that one does need to be aware of their surroundings....even if it seems safe
A month ago there were two gators removed from the lake across the street from me because they were stalking a toddler that was at the edge of the lake. One gator was 9 feet,the other about 8 feet,and there are others still in the lake,and are no problem. People fish the lake all the time,no problems. We are in south central Florida about 45 minutes north of where the huge gator was caught after it was eating cows,and being a pain in the butt to farmers. Where ever there are lakes,lots of them,just like here you will have gators. Just beware,and keep in contact with fish and game commission.
Suspect that would be one course I would stay away from, even if armed with a golf club. My dil and I go to Mississippi in the summer for a week and like to try out new courses. If I happen to hit a ball out of the fairway and it’s not readily visible I don’t go hunting for it. Golf balls are cheap.
Why didn’t the alligator feed after killing the boy?

Almost the entire coastline of NC up to just south of the VA line, further inland as you go south. Good rule of thumb, if there are palmetto trees growing wild, they’re definitely around, and if a palm tree can even survive as a landscape ornamental, you can probably find a few.
