Until there is some due process for putting people on watch lists - and for getting them off if mistakenly added, I agree, bad idea.
NRA will hopefully tell Trump if this is what he wants they are withdrawing their endorsement. Trump is caving to the RINOs.
The problem the NRA and gun owners have with the Terror Watch List is that as it currently exists, the list is secret, any bureaucrat can put anyone on the list for any or no reason, and there is no mechanism in place to find out if you are on the list, why you were put on it, and there is no way to challenge it to get your name taken off it.
So were the San Bernardino Muslim shooters, right?

Not a good idea without a court hearing process for removal from the list.
The feds would but anyone they want on the no fly list for any reason, they have done so before.
What a wonderful idea - because everyone knows how accurate those watch lists are and how easy it is for the wrongfully targeted to get their names removed.
That’s a mistake Mr. Trump. This is a sample of what will immediately happen:
“I have just signed Executive order 5632854 to include all Trump supporters and those who attend Church more than twice a year on the no-fly list. It’s for the children.”
This IS what scares the hell out of most, for NO REASON you end up on this list with NO RECOURSE!!! After what happened with the IRS and NO CONSEQUENCES to ANYONE at IRS!!!! this IS a VERY bad idea!!!
If they did a hundred other things first that actually proved they care about the safety of citizens then I might envision a state that wouldn’t abuse such a list. Until then, no way. They can’t even bring themselves to profile the ones who visually are the most dangerous per actual statistics. Of all people, Trump should grasp this.

This is typical government, it will reverse the presumption of innocence and not bat an eye about it. The so-called safeguard is you have to prove your own innocence. Any set of facts and inferences (no need for support for the inferences) will withstand rebuttal.
The courts are in on the scheme. The so-called "checks and balances" are actually "affirmations and reinforcement."

Looking back at that scene, if just ONE other person at the scene had also been armed, or if all had been willing to rush the shooter, we wouldn’t be looking at this kind of carnage.
It’s like the gun rights folk say. If you won’t arm or even prepare yourself and you get caught short, it’s your fault.
