Second Congressional District in Virginia. Tidewater area for the Virginia challenged.
135 of 180 precincts reporting: Pat Cardwell 2213 votes 6.83% J. Randy Forbes 13165 40.61% Scott W. Taylor 17,039 52.56%
Scott Taylor is in the House of Delegates, former SEAL and all around good troop. This is a relatively safe gop district, so he'll likely win the general.
Randy Forbes is a carpetbagger from western tidewater, 4th district. He doesn't live in the 2nd. His 4th district was redrawn and is now leaning rat. The incumbent in the 2nd decided to retire to let Forbes run for the seat. It didn't work and we just got something of a two-fer: two gop establishment tools gone.

He’s probably going to be carried out feet first from his Senate seat. He’ll be a month shy of 79 at the end of his term in January 2021 (and he’ll probably run again). The Senate is a great retirement home, doncha know ?
Forbes’s district was eliminated, so there was no “his own” district to run in. He had no chance of winning in a gerrymandered VRA district designed to elect a Black Democrat. A Republican would be lucky to get 35% in it.

If McConnell dropped dead tonight, there’d just be another RINO knob-polisher for Zero to take his place. Ditto with Ryan in the House.
Randy was ok. He was in the pocket of defense contractors but the was a solid enough conservative overall. He didn’t have much of a chance in the 2nd district with the easiest argument being he didn’t live there and he was running against a Navy Seal. Now the 4th District is going to suck because I don’t see Mike Wade winning with it redrawn. He’s a nice enough guy but nice isn’t enough.
I attended a Scott Taylor event. He seems like the real deal.

Here in the 5th District of Virginia, we weren’t even allowed to vote. It was decided by some weird convention process. I won’t even bother to look up ‘our’ candidate’s name.
