Trump calls scolding by Newt Gingrich 'inappropriate'

Donald Trump said Monday it was "inappropriate" for Newt Gingrich to demand he drop the subject of an American judge's ethnicity and start acting like "a potential leader of the United States." But Trump let stand widespread scolding from other Republican leaders who want him to lay off the jurist — a sign that the GOP presidential candidate doesn't want to blow up the fragile truce he has struck with the party establishment.

Trump insisted that his comments about the judge came in defense against relentless questions from reporters and others about lawsuits against Trump University. Trump said U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel can't be impartial in the suits because his parents were born in Mexico and Trump wants to build a wall along the border.

Curiel is a former federal prosecutor who was born in Indiana to parents who came from Mexico in the 1920s. He has not responded to Trump's attack, and Trump's legal team has not sought his removal from the case. Judges generally are thought to have conflicts of interest only in more specific situations, such as a financial interest in the outcome of the case.

Nonetheless, Trump says the public discussion about Trump University requires a response.

There are two schools of thougtht here.

Gingrich is either part of the team (he and Trump and Trump's team exchange MANY emails every day)...or Gingrich is a loose cannon who is killing any chance he might have in a Trump adamistration.

You decide...I report.;-)

Newt should have kept his concerns private with Trump...

Newt seems to think he is the smartest man in DC and that is his weakness.

Pray America wakes

I lean toward that Newt was no longer on the short list, for whatever reason, therefore he was acting as a free agent and TRUMP didn’t like his “tone”, or his words.

Gingrich and TRUMP were already too much alike, imho.

Trump says Newt is inappropriate.

Inappropriate is wearing a loud suit to a wedding. Or a skimpy bathing suit to a pool party.

Gingrich didn't wear a loud suit (and thank God he didn't wear a skimpy bathing suit)...he scolded the boss.

There are two schools of thought here.

Either Gingrich destroyed any chance he might have had of a position in a Trump administration (which BTW is worth many millions)...

Or...

He was acting according to a Trump stratagem.

I suggest...you decide.

Completely inappropriate.

Newt can’t decide what side he is on. Imagine that!

Even Stevie Wonder could see that this dust-up over the judge is a media driven circular firing squad, and the GOP-E regulars all happily showed up to pull their triggers.

In the meantime, the GOP-E isn’t talking about the LA Raza connected mayor and police chief in San Jose who conspired to deprive Trump supporters and GOP voters of police protection after the Trump rally last Thursday night.

And Hillary thanks Satan for yet another day under the radar from Trump’s stance that she should be in jail.

Way to go, GOP-E pearl clutchers!

Follow the money. Newt knows exactly which side he is on. Trump gives the orders and Newt follows.

Read my comments up-thread.

Newt has an awful pattern of flip flopping and turning randomly PC and then back again. He’s done it before. Maybe it’s whenever he’s off his meds. If this is a Trump strategem, that would be great, but I doubt it.

“Inappropriate” has been turned into one of the stupidest words in the English language. Same for the word “passionate”

Newt doesn’t work for Trump. He can say whatever he wants. Maybe Trump can give him a funny nickname.
