Really interesting stuff from National Review's Eliana Johnson, whose latest campaign dispatch sheds light on just how close Newt Gingrich has become with the presumptive Republican nominee -- and how hard the former House Speaker is said to be lobbying behind the scenes for a spot on the ticket. Are you ready for Trump/Gingrich 2016, America?
Gingrich has, in effect, launched his own campaign to secure the nomination. I think Newt is lobbying to be the vice president, and I think their people are paying a lot of attention to him, says Ed Rollins, a Republican operative and former Gingrich staffer now working for a super PAC supporting Trumps candidacy.*snip*
Gingrich has a reputation for insinuating himself into campaigns by firing off dozens of e-mails brimming with ideas that range from brilliant to insane. While its a quality that has irritated previous presidential candidates such as John McCain and Mitt Romney, sources say that Trump has come to value the former speakers opinions. They talk every day, says a source familiar with the relationship, who claims that Gingrich e-mails Trump, campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and campaign manager Corey Lewandowski countless times a day....Gingrichs influence within Trump World is widespread. Inside Trumps newly established campaign offices in Washington, D.C., his fingerprints are everywhere. Right from the minute I joined we were told that Newt will have his hand in every major policy effort, says one Trump aide. So one of the things I do when Im researching or writing anything, in addition to looking at what Trump has said about anything, I look at what Newt has said.

WOW!!!!!!
Two candidates who won’t apologize or give smarmy Pablum for answers when asked idiotic questions by dumb libtard media
I think he would be better than my former governor, Jan Brewer.
That's just one example.....would you care for more?
Neither the Huckster ( the GOP version of Bill Clinton, sans the sex scandals ) nor Rudy ( he's too old and he and Trump are both from the same state, which is a HUGE no-no! )are good choices either.
My problem with Gingrich is that he’s an NWO globalist. I would prefer that Trump consider VP candidates who respect US sovereignty. Placing Newt a heartbeat away puts Trump under tremendous danger.
Why? Where is it written that VPs automatically are in line for the top spot. I can't recall any VP that got the top spot and did anything memorable.
I would rather have a VP that is focused on victories now and not on his future personal ambitions. I think Newt is the right man at the right time and knows this is his last chance to right the country.
I have met Callista briefly. Callista is absolutely adorable. She is a beautiful woman outwardly and inwardly. She is that perfect wife for a man who is perfectly suited to be our next Vice President:
What is with all the Newt support on this thread. He is so far from a conservative it isn’t funny. Has NO ONE paid attention to all the shots he took at conservatives in the last 8 years? Seriously?
YES, YES, YES! Best man for the job!
And, Newt let us down once before.
Oh good grief...get off the stupid conspiracy theory train! There’s nothing inherently “wrong” with the Bohemian Grove, any more than there is with SKULL & BONES, the FreeMasons, etc.!
Hm..............we could do far worse.
However this balloon, promoted by talking head Hannity, will likely never achieve lift off.
“I like Newt, but at 74 (by election day) he would be a little on the old side to take on the VP role. I would prefer that Trump would pick a possible successor eight years down the road.”
There will be no “eight years down the road,” without the next four being an unqualified success. Age should not be the litmus test! Some people are finished at 50, while others are still going strong in their eighties!
I met a driver at the Monterey Historic Automobile Races two years ago who was driving a 1970’s Can-Am car (we’re talking 950hp, 1,700lb, you do the math). He told me that this was to be his last stint driving but after 42 years driving race cars, at EIGHTY-TWO, he thought it was about time to give it up!
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exactly. He’s a has-been and a presidential wannabe. He loved pretending to be co-president when Clinton was in office. I would consider him for WH COS.
Newt as VP is being used by the Trump campaign as a “red herring.”
No...no...no....no....NEVER !
Maybe these conservatives needed a criticism. There are many conservative elites who are not true conservatives. They use the conservative facade to hide their true intentions, which is to line their pockets with the good intentions of their donors. Then there are conservatives, like Erick Erickson, who are Democrats in sheep's clothing. They serve to disrupt the conservative base with misinformation that is mostly fabricated for the effect.
