Dr. Ben Carson confirmed five people on presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trumps list of potential vice presidential running mates in a recent interview.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 VP running mate to John McCain, was one of the five Carson said was on the list. The rest are all former 2016 GOP presidential candidates: Trumps closest competitor Sen. Ted Cruz, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Sen. Marco Rubio, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. (Read more at source)

Agreed.
@realDonaldTrump: The @washingtonpost report on potential VP candidates is wrong. Marco Rubio and most others mentioned are NOT under consideration.
Oh, I don't know. I'd like to see her perform with the "strategist" imposed "gloves" off.
She does have a real flare for pithy rejoinders. Furthermore, much of her infamy came from her taking down the Republican establishment in Alaska and it's consequent lack of support from the BIG Republican establishment.
The question is would she be worth the expenditure of political capital for Trump to rehabilitate her.
clever kitty...
Is the list 5 names long and those are the only people on it? Or is the list 20 names long and includes those names among others? A rather large distinction in the tenor and implication of the story.
Then was then, now is now. I truly believe we are in a different political universe now. Think about it, every time Trump says a supposed gaffe, or early on, "Did you hear what Trump said?" and all the pundits were aghast and said he was through. His poll number always went up! My contention Now is the Same Thing would happen if we had a Trump/Palin ticket. Again, we're in a different time and an absolutely new political universe.
The approval rating of the MSM is at an absolute all-time low. Even the lowest LoFo knows the media is just the propaganda arm of the WH and the democratic party. Congress's approval rating, that of the Uniparty, is at an all time low. Everyone is totally fed up with Congress, feels totally betrayed, especially after the 2014 elections and of course, totally po'ed at Obama. I simply don't believe the 50% approval ratings that pollsters report. It's usually NBC or CNN.
Anyway, my point is I think NOW, if Palin is VP and she is attacked it will totally backfire, people will rally around her - and Trump - and BOTH their numbers will go up.
She, IMHO, is eminently qualified to be President. C'mon people, Obama was vetted and qualified and Sarah Palin is not? She's the most vetted person on the political landscape. We're not talking about President right now, though I'm confident she could fill the shoes in a heartbeat if need be. I really feel given everything, the national populist mood, the resentment of Hillary pulling the woman card - that's her whole platform, that and abortion - I think Sarah Palin would be the perfect juxtaposition to Hillary. There she is, a competent former Governor of a state, great wife and mother, successful businesswoman, God fearing, 2nd Amendment believing beautiful woman - everything the left hates.
I still think the whole country is so angry and ticked off that they would go absolutely WILD if Trump announced Sarah Palin as his VP Pick. Trump's poll numbers would go through the roof, and yes, he hasn't even started on Hillary yet. Also, keep in mind, Hillary is so unpopular, as soon as she starts dumping on Palin, most Patriotic Americans will get madder yet, and then what? You guessed it, Trump/Palin's Numbers would Go Up!
I hate to sound like one of our favorite talk show hosts, but don't doubt me on this. : ) Plus, you know you want to see all the pundits with exploding heads on camera. Can't you see Chrissie, Steponallofus, you name em'. It'll be grab the popcorn every day starting with they'll be aghast, "That's it for Trump, How could he?, I'm appalled, his numbers will drop, Hillary's sure to win now," blah, blah and then their numbers, Trump/Palin go sky high.
Agreed.
I will be popping champagne if Sarah Palin were picked as Trump’s VP. I have saved what she wrote about Trump and I post it here:
Sarah Palin: Trump
What a hoot to watch pundits clutching their pearls and whimpering for smelling salts aghast over the latest shocking thing Donald Trump said, while The Donald ignores them and continues to soar. Silly kingmakers just dont know what to make of this. Well, we do!
The elites are shocked by Trumps dominance, but everyday Americans arent. Everywhere Ive gone this summer, including motorsport events in Detroit full of fed up Joe Six-Pack Americans, the folks I meet commiserate about wussified slates of politicians, but then unsolicited, they whisper their appreciation for Trump because he has the guts to say it like it is.
Trumps unconventional candidacy is a shot in the arm for ordinary Americans fed up with the predictable poll tested blather of squishy milquetoast career politicians who campaign one way and govern another. But its not just how Trump says it, its what hes saying.
Trump has tapped into Americas great populist tradition by speaking to concerns of working class voters. He talks about fighting to bring back our factories. When was the last time a candidate talked passionately about reclaiming our manufacturing base (and knew what he was talking about)? What other candidate chooses American workers over the multinational corporations donating to their campaigns? Who other than Trump is talking about the dangerous trade deficits deindustrializing America and stealing our jobs? The old Arsenal of Democracy that allowed us to win World War II is now such a distant memory that we cant even build the parts for our own military equipment we need China to manufacture them for us. How can a great nation maintain its greatness without a manufacturing base? Or without secure borders for that matter?
Trump focused in on two major populist grievances: the loss of working class jobs due to awful trade agreements, and the unfair competition for those jobs along with security threats due to the flood of illegal immigrants pouring across unsecured borders.
Now throw in Trumps candor about winning and you understand why his message catches fire. As General Patton said, Americans play to win all the time. But those of us outside the Beltway can see that America isnt winning. Our enemies laugh at us. Our friends cant rely on us. China is outpacing our military superiority. Putin thumbs his nose at us. ISIS seizes territory our sons and daughters fought and died to liberate. Iran gloats over the idiotic and ultimately catastrophic nuclear deal the White House caved on. Our friends in Israel shake their heads at our betrayal.
Trump diagnoses our problems as incompetent leadership. Who can argue with that? How many politicians promised to secure our borders? So, why arent they secured? How many politicians promised to grow American jobs? So, why did they vote for Obamatrade? Is it any wonder that Americans are telling status quo politicians, Youre fired?
For everyday Americans the beauty of Trumps candidacy is that hes not a politician. Theres hope the guy who wrote The Art of the Deal can finally close the deal on all the broken promises of career politicians. Maybe the man who actually builds things, big things, can rebuild Americas entrepreneurial spirit with government put back in its proper place.
The average American doesnt ask for much. We want security and the freedom to prosper. Many politicians are now offering solutions for security, but what about our prosperity? Trump boasts about his wealth, and average Americans cheer him on. This is the secret the chattering classes will never get. Americans dont begrudge wealth honestly earned. We celebrate it! Trump made his money the old fashioned way with brick and mortar. He built big buildings and proudly stamped his name on them. He actually created jobs lots of them. Like so many great American entrepreneurs, Trump has the flair of a showman but the sensibilities of an ordinary guy. He may be a billionaire, but refreshingly, theres nothing elitist about him. Hes saying to the average Joe, I worked hard and I succeeded and I want you to also. Thats the fabric of our national character woven by work ethic and dreams and drive. Thats America!
Its no surprise pundits and politicos are determined to destroy a candidacy they cant control or shape with their mere words. Expect marginalization of anyone speaking well of Trumps efforts. Hes a threat to the permanent political class. Non-traditional candidates always are because when theyre in touch with the people, they show their guts and just do the right thing. They go rogue and take flak from all sides. Some of us have the scars to prove that.
Thankfully, Americans are on to the medias games. The politics of personal destruction has lost its shock value. We have serious problems in this country. Ferreting through old divorce records and playing gotcha with past misstatements are just stupid distractions. Shouts of, But he donated to Democrats! wont sway Trump enthusiasts. The man built a skyscraper in New York City of course, he had donated to Democrats. If he was building it in Salt Lake City, Im sure he would have donated to Republicans. But he changed his mind on positions! Reagan had been an FDR Democrat. Should we hold that against him or be grateful he saw the light?
Itty-bitty pundits thinking its clever to mock Americans opinions are finding the joke is on them. Cozy in their seat of judgment, blowing each others horns, protected by a glass screen. Ask yourself: just who ARE these windbags? And what do they build? Towers of paperclips? Lists of Twitter followers? Trumps supporters are delightedly defying pithy prim opinion makers who think Americans are incapable of choosing our leaders without their dictates. The more the spotlight-seekers smear Trump, the more popular he gets. A friend emailed, Tell those smart alecks bashing Trump on TV, I love him because YOU hate him!’
The GOP establishment would do well to listen to these voters and quit dismissing them. Reagan understood these blue-collar salts of the earth Americans. Thats why they gave him two landslide victories. If you want to win again, GOP, you need these good people.
Anticipate more battering and bashing storms around Trump. Its still very early in the game; folks are keeping their powder dry with candidate support but are quite happy Donald Trump is in the race. More power to you, Donald. Heres to Making America Great Again!
Radioactive, schmadioactive.
If Trump wants Sarah Palin to be his VP, that's who he should choose.
She does have a way with words. : ) Totally gets to the heart of the matter and tells it like it is. Would love to see more of her writing if she was picked for VP. She would totally Excoriate Hillary.
I still have the champagne bottle from 08 sitting in the corner. I won't' wait for the election, I'll pop it if he announces she's VP because I Know they'll win!
LMAO!!!
Sarah Palin will ‘shore up the base’ for Trump that might otherwise buy into the “Conservative Movement” angst- hostility that disses Trump.
I have no doubt he and his folks did some brainstorming and looked at a lot of folks so they could discuss potential upside/downside attributes - all this means is he is looking at all angles as he prepares to do battle for the WH.
I would imagine this "leak" by Carson is designed to help solidify what we consider "No way in hell" and along the line - it would also give him an opportunity to be politically polite with some of them while not choosing for them - "Data shows that including you on the ticket would sink our ship - but let's see what we can do to leverage your superior abilities in this area.......putz"
Yes, I just saw that this morning.
Trump is quick.
Eggzackly right.
Eggszactly! I had the same thoughts.
We know she is the real deal. When she was named VP and gave her convention speech, there was a MASSIVE turnout at local Republican hq offices, looking to volunteer. There were LINES! Without her, McCain’s defeat would have been EPIC. The excitement might not be as strong this go-around but she will bring back some of the base.
You want your VP to bring votes to the ticket. Well, for those women voting solely based on gender, there will be a reason to choose the STRONGER woman over Cankles. And what an accomplished woman is Sarah.
Yes, the MSM will attack her and dredge up all the old lies and misconceptions. But this time there will be no idiot consultants who advise the candidate to abandon her or rein her in. McCain folded like a cheap suit but there is no way she will lack support from The Donald.
Take the family problems that came after the Palin / McWhatshisname ticket lost. In any other election that would be a serious problem because of the attacks. But Trump / Palin can turn that into a positive. You see, how many Americans have had to deal with a similar problem? How many grandparents are raising their grandchildren? How many children are born out of wedlock. Sarah is living their reality.
I think Sarah Palin would be an excellent choice as running mate for Donald Trump. I really do.
You are brilliant! And what state elected you Senator?
No wonder you live in a homeless shelter, guy.
Check out # 166 and # 168 .
Thanks, Art in Idaho.
1. Have you heard McCANE’s speach about Sarah given in the last week or so?
2. How can she be such an asset to Mc Canes campaign and not be the same for Trumps?
3. All the hoopla is nothing more than FLACK!
IMO DJT made his decision before he decided to run. They are already working as a team
So where does he use KT McFarland ? John Bolton ? Both have strong resumes
