Trump Calls Elizabeth Warren 'Pocahontas' In Call With NYT Columnist

GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump referred to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (d-ma) as "Pocahontas" in an interview with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, she wrote in a piece published Saturday.
Trump told Dowd that he had not been asked by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) in his meeting with him last week to tone down his rhetoric directed at women.
Dowd also asked him if he had been criticized by Republicans for his Twitter feud with Warren.
"You mean Pocahontas?” Trump shot back.
Trump and Warren have engaged in a long battle on Twitter, trading barbs over his rhetoric toward women and her Native American heritage.

Cherokee has a registry. My kids are on it, even though they are only 1/ 32nd. They have a little more Indian from my side, but can’t prove it. So it’s not a good idea to claim Cherokee. They keep records.
The Cherokee actually had slaves, but they won’t give descendants of their slaves any recognition as belonging to the Cherokee nation.

He must not understand the nickname is Faux-cahontas (because she isn’t really an Indian). He could have said Faux-cahontas and Dowd heard the Pocahontas? But Trump is a master communicator (the best he has ever seen per Dilbert creator Scott Adams) so we should go with Trump on this one. It is more understandable to call her a Indian that most people know as a Disney cartoon.
