Anyone else think Kasich must have had a gentlemen's agreement with Trump? Why else would he stay in the race for weeks/months after it was obvious his polls weren't going much higher? Though he didn't have much hope of winning, his staying in divided the "not Trump" vote, siphoning valuable votes and momentum away from Cruz. Just my two cents. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Kasich as the VP nominee, especially since he could deliver Ohio in November.
Kasich was riding Cruz’ coat tails, letting Ted do all of the heavy lifting, letting Cruz spend the millions against TRUMP, and letting Cruz coordinate the delegate ambush of TRUMP at Convention. Kasich just knew the insiders would execute a backfire at Convention.
Kasich placed all of his chips on the GOPE clout and ownership of the Party to succeed in dispatching both Trump, and then Cruz, at the convention and to settle on him.
John Kasich never did get it. He never saw the movement coming, and must be every bit as gob smacked as the GOPE that Cruz folded and messed up Kasich’s game as well.
Kasich had to be B R O K E, and could no longer afford to go it alone absent the Cruz financial jet stream.
Just my humble observation, however. :)
These two might not physically continue to publicly campaign, but there is nothing to stop them from continuing to buy delegates underground.
Kasich was in it to protect Trump. Once Cruz dropped out, he wasn’t needed anymore.
Cruz operatives are already doing that.
That is correct, down and dirty to the bitter end.
Notice that he never gave Kasich a nickname?
Yes he did: Trump called Kasich 1 for 26, then 1 for 32, or whatever the state totals were.
Trump would have to choose a VP that will share his ideas. I hate to say it, but I think there is a high chance Trump will be killed. The violent hatred for him in the latino and left community is like I have ever seen. If he picks Kasich you go from “Build The Wall” to amnesty in one heartbeat.
I suspect he ran out of money and donations had dried up.
I think the people paying his way probably cut him off. I think that is why Cruz quit too.
The siphoning of votes thing is a misconception. With Kasich out, Trump probably would have won New York and the other states with an even more massive number. More Kasich voters would have moved to Trump than Cruz.
We’ll have to ask John when he’s done eating.
2nd, you are just flailing around with your last stupidities. Cruz ruined all chance of that the moment he said stuff like "Trump is Evil, he is a pathological liar." Imagine the attack ads.
According to reports his plane was set to take off to Washington, then turned and taxied back to the terminal. Must have gotten a phone call.
I don’t think it was like that at all. I think he stayed in because he believed that between himself and Cruz he could hold Trump down to less than 1237 delegates. Once the convention was going to be contested, he believed that neither Trump nor Cruz would get the nomination, and that he could be the last well-liked establishment man standing.
Ockham’s Razor: Kasich appears to be a self-important, delusional, obnoxious, preachy dweeb because he’s a self-important, delusional, obnoxious, preachy dweeb.
His dad was a mailman, btw.
Possible. Never know about those deals, eh?
Kasich was told by the RNC brass to quit.
