Patti Davis, daughter of late President Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan, penned an open letter Thursday to Will Ferrell, criticizing the actor for agreeing to play the 40th president in an upcoming satirical film about his battle with dementia.
I saw the news bulletin as did everyone that you intend to portray my father in the throes of Alzheimers for a comedy that you are also producing, Ms. Davis, a former actress, wrote in her blog. Perhaps you have managed to retain some ignorance about Alzheimers and other versions of dementia. Perhaps if you knew more, you would not find the subject humorous.
Alzheimers doesnt care if you are President of the United States or a dockworker. It steals what is most precious to a human being memories, connections, the familiar landmarks of a lifetime that we all come to rely on to hold our place secure in this world and keep us linked to those we have come to know and love, she continued. I watched as fear invaded my fathers eyes this man who was never afraid of anything. I heard his voice tremble as he stood in the living room and said, I dont know where I am. I watched helplessly as he reached for memories, for words, that were suddenly out of reach and moving farther away. For ten long years he drifted past the memories that marked his life, past all that was familiar
and mercifully, finally past the fear. There was laughter in those years, but there was never humor.

Thanks, Daffynition, it’s worth a try. I’m no fan of those automatic email boxes.
I’ll let you know if I get a reply.
Usually when you do, it’s a computer generated form letter.
[Like the ones from your congresscritter] :)
Not cool, Will.
How about we make a satirical movie about FDR not being able to go to the bathroom after he was stricken with polio? Would that also be amusing, Will? How about laugh riot about JFK decorating his wife’s dress? Would HER trauma tickle your funny bone, Will?
because they could not afford the amount of sink disinfectant and cigars needed to make it? (yecch...)
My B-I-L knew President Reagan for a few years after he left the White House. He used to Frame all the President’s Art and Photos, many of which are still on display at the Reagan Ranch.
He visited with him once a Month and spent an hour or two talking with him each visit. Reagan was perfectly fine.
This Movie is Slander, pure and simple.
HBO just started airing the Justice Thomas / Anita Hill Slander Movie this Month. If anything else, Liberals are a consistent bunch.
Perhaps she is regretting her previous lapse and is attempting to atone - God's world is an amazing mix of neat and nifty events.
Silly; that's what TV is for!!!
good one

No; Michael J. Fox
Another example of Hollywood’s agenda, which is to take down conservative icons. This movie will be a disaster, so why didn’t they go with “The BIG Blue Dress”, or “Intern in the Beret” or “Smokin’ Hot Cigar” because everyone knows sex sells.
Will Ferrell, is free to make his movie but we are free to make Will Ferrell a pariah, and shun all his endeavors.
I wonder how well received a comedy about the cripple -FDR, falling over, getting his wheelchair stuck, etc... would fly.
I’m sure THAT would cause riots.

After reading this, I need immediate Anger Management Training.
I have never found Ferrell funny in anything. He is repugnant much like Jim Carrey and Robin Williams. The ironic part is they are the ones with a mental illness.
We should do a comedy film about a leftist in Hollywood dying of AIDS. Baldwin would work.
Hopefully Patti has derailed this movie. But watch for much more unfavorable stuff to be coming out about Ronald Reagan. Obama’s recent remarks denigrating RR signals his desire to push Reagan off his pedestal and hoist himself upon it.
He can’t stand the thought of any other president being revered as greater than himself.
He has a loyal cult in Hollywood and the media who are more than willing to help him with the pushing.
