NORTH BEND — For one North Bend High School student, the “American Dream” is over.
At least, that's the fear Schalk Badenhorst has for his grandson, who is being deported back to South Africa in July.
But 18-year-old Jaun Erasmus seems to have accepted his fate, even though he'll be leaving so much behind.

I had just finished a different story written with a similar “human interest” slant and wanted to compare the two for the sake of consistency.
In this thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3424154/posts a mom of four face possible deportation. The obvious difference in the two stories is that Jaun didn’t sneak in and his guardians have tried to make/keep him legal. It appears that they took steps to do things right but they weren’t the correct steps.
Is there no American FReeper who could marry this kid?

But other illegal children come with illegal parents and they're "dreamers" and no move is made to deport them.
And tens of thousands of minors are now being waved across our southern border and many sent to live with illegal aliens already here.
And South Africa is a truly dangerous nation, but our government will never admit it. So, they allow people from other nations to claim a fear of violence and give trhem refugee status, but not this kid.
All pathetic and it just shows how a low life POS Obama and his policies are. We should enforce our immigration laws, but they should be enforced evenly and fairly.
Progressive leftists don't have any human interest at all, only anti human interests.
The piece is designed to garner sympathy for the paper, writer, alien foreigners and play to the unspoken "privilege" racism that they don't have to mention to assert in their readership.
The kid is being deported because he is White by a racist bureaucracy, and it is made obvious that he knows this.

I’m as tough on illegal immigration as I can be, but this kid is with his real parents. They are citizens. He should be graced in some way.
If he had been born here, he’d be a citizen, even if his mom had only been here two minutes.
If a pair of U. S. Citizens had moved here from Mexico with their grandson needing “real” parents, I’d be thinking along the same lines.
This just angers me. Sanctuary cities? Ok. Whole regions over-run with illegals? Ok. Half a billion dollar schools with over 90% of their students the children of illegal immigrants? Ok!
One kid from South Africal brought here by family due to an unfortunate situation in their family life, “Oh no, call in the FBI quick!”

I would agree...leave the country, and fly to Mexico...then walk across and claim your name is Juan-Juan-Juan. Nothing illegal in doing so.
They must have found out he was possibly a Trump supporter.
Go to Mexico. Apply fake suntan, dye hair black, learn ‘no habla Ingles’ and walk back in with the other illegals. If he changes his name he can get all the free goodies too!
