Trump strategist Roger Stone tells NJ 101.5 radio that even if Donald Trump wins a majority of pledged delegates to the Republican convention, Cruz will utilize "Trojan horse" delegates (who are bound to vote for Trump only on the first RNC nomination ballot) to vote on "procedural" matters in the Rules Committee or Credentials committee to block or disallow certain votes.
ROGER STONE: Unfortunately just because Donald Trump gets the 1,237 [delegates needed to win], doesn't mean we aren't going to have a brokered convention. My sources, who are pretty good in the Republican Party, indicate to me that Ted Cruz intends to work a "rules strategy" to try to euchre this nomination away from Donald Trump.
In kind of a shady, using political trickery and so on, utilizing these Trojan Delegates we have been talking about -- Where Trump delegates, from the results of the primary -- those seats are filled with non-Trump voters, non-Trump supporters who will vote against Trump on procedural issues in either rules or credentials that could be used to take away his majority.

Republic excuse???
WE ARE A CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC...
GOOD GRIEF...
Donald’s Twitter timeline has been sparkly clean since Paulie joined the campaign. I’m sure there was a “help me, help you” discussion in there somewhere.
Here is my problem which cruz and his supporters can’t understand.
If the rules state you can bribe delegates and they do then how does that help cruz or make him stringer in a general when it is the voters who vote and cruz has only won 4 states , including his own?
It doesn’t.
This needs to be pointed time and time again to these delegates and if they want to be responsible for voting for a man who can’t get voters to vote for him.
Lok at the swing states. FL,VA,OH, and possibly NH.
He came third or worse in all of them, never won a single county in two of them.
What part of that does cruz not understand about people need to vote for you to make you in a striong position.
paying off delegates is good for him, however it is the voters who vote in a general and the voters are saying they don’t want cruz which is not good in a general;

The polls I've seen show that more voters DON'T want Trump than there are those who DON'T want Cruz.
The polls you can look at, but the facts are where people have voted and voters are saying they do not want cruz, so paying and bribing delegates is not making cruz a strong candidate for a general as it will be the voters who decide now some paid off delegates.
Now polls are not facts and many have been wrong, so look at the facts. FL, VA, OH NH all swing states and where cruz came at best third.
I know in my state of FL there is no way in hell cruz could ever win here against Clinton
In 2000 Bush easily won the nomination. The general election has no bearing on this discussion but in that case, the state of Florida was re-counted and still Bush won. Again, you make apples and oranges argument.
There is simply no way Trump gets to 1100-1236 delegates and gets frozen out. Theoretically, yes it’s possible but in reality, it’s just not going to happen. By having hundreds of delegates more than his closest rival, Trump will be in best position to capture what he needs from the unbounded delegate pool to go over the top. It’s silly to think that Trump will fall just short and then be frozen in place as Cruz piles up some 500-600 delegates unopposed to zoom by Trump. Not going to happen! Especially since Cruz has done so poorly in Deep South, Northeast and Battleground states.
Cruz might be the cat’s meow in places like Kansas, Wisconsin and states where the establishment controls the delegate selection process but that is not going to translate into a win in a general election where the Democrats will win in a landslide should Cruz be the nominee.
paying off delegates is good for him, however it is the voters who vote in a general and the voters are saying they dont want cruz which is not good in a general
The election happened already? Damn I missed it. However, I may not have missed much
Sorry auto type via smartphone selects the words - think - thinking. I don’t know why you are so happy Cruz can only win via delegate BS. He will be a candidate that could not get 50% in his own state. Cruz can only win via some procedural delegate shuffling. I don’t even know how Cruz supporters have any pride in themselves.
Simply put, they will do what ever they have to in order to protect their livelihood.
The GOP is a private corporation. They don’t have to let anyone in they don’t want to.
I’m not a Trump supporter, I think Trump is low class, and some of his supporters here on FreeRepublic even worse than that... but if Trump gets 1237 then he gets the win. Flip side, if Trump doesn’t get the 1237 then it goes into round two and things get complicated.
That said, Trump’s move to try to reject the Colorado delegates was not a brilliant strategy since it did open the door to go both ways... Trump is brilliant at playing people... not so much at playing political systems. Of course, it is only cheating when someone other than Trump does it...
It seems like I've seen that Colorado is planning to have primaries in the future. I'd think that is a pretty good indication that people are realizing that the system that existed this year needed to be replaced. There would be no reason to replace it if it was producing results in line with the will of the population.
You know the general has not happened so why the sarc comment, why not address the fact cruz has only won 4 states , including his own where the voters actually voted for their candidate?
Tell me how it makes him stronger to know that only 4 states has gone his way where voters vote for the candidate and paying off delegates ?
The voters decide in a general, the swing states are the important states , FL, VA, NH, OH, all places where cruz came third at best, two of those states he never won one single county and if you were here in FL you would understand that there I no way cruz would ever win against Clinton therefore Clinton wins FL therefore Clinton wins the general.

I'll be sure to pass that gracious excuse along to our kids and their spouses living in Colorado.
...or maybe not.
If you want, I'll give you their addresses so that you can present that lame try at adding insult to injury on your own.
As if you or your buddy would have the nerve to present that stuff face to face.
Hey, screw your dismissal of the most conservative states in the union such as Texas and Utah.
If Trump fails to hit 1237 delegates, he does NOT have a majority of the delegates, and does not represent a majority of the party.
The majority rule (in place since the party’s founding) is crucial as only someone whom can unify a broad coalition of the party. It is imperative so the party can get behind that person for the general.
If someone is unable to obtain a majority of the delegates in the nomination process, how could one possibly expect them to win in the general?
He better hopes he hits 1237, or else he is toast, because there are PLENTY (about 60-70%) of folks in the party whom do NOT like him, myself included.
If I were a delegate, I’d vote against him.
I’m from PA too - 13th district, and I’m going to TRY to vote for Trump next Tuesday.
The reason I say “TRY”, is that I don’t know what the various delegate candidates on the ballot in my district will actually do at the convention, since they are unbound. I do have a list that provides hints based on any public statements they may have made, but as I said, they are unbound, so I think it’s mostly a crap shoot. Of the 7 delegate candidates in my district, one says “Cruz”, five say District winner”, one says “Statewide winner”, and there are telephone numbers and emails, although I haven’t tried contacting any of them. I suppose if I could speak with each of them I might be able to intelligently vote for the three most likely to support my candidate, but I don’t even know how they got to become candidates in the first place; maybe they have to get a certain number of signatures? I simply have no idea, and neither does anyone I ask, even my lawyer friends.
Hannity said he was planning to post similar information on his website, but I don’t think many PA voters realize they need to do research if they want their vote to have any chance of counting. Wrong though they may be, most voters believe that in order to perform their civic duty, and exercise their right to vote, they are obligated to operate within whatever primary system the parties dish out, and that is unfortunate, because the parties do not exist to serve the voters.
I know these are long standing rules and procedures, and the PA GOP has the right to set the rules for their own private organization. I know if candidates hope to sow and cultivate these unbound delegates, it behooves them to get intimately involved with GOP operatives at the local level, develop a ‘ground game’, etc. Still, I find it hard to justify a system that is purposely confusing and unaccountable to the voters. From what I can see, it only benefits ‘connected’ party hacks who want to trade political support for influence and favors.
