The bizarre optimism in Donald Trump’s theory of the economy
Washington Post ^ | Apr 2, 2016 | Jim Tankersley

Posted on 04/02/2016 11:24:31 PM PDT by Innovative

"I think we’re sitting on an economic bubble. A financial bubble... We’re not at 5 percent unemployment. We’re at a number that’s probably into the 20s if you look at the real number. That was a number that was devised, statistically devised to make politicians – and in particular presidents – look good. And I wouldn’t be getting the kind of massive crowds that I’m getting if the number was a real number."

"I’m talking about a bubble where you go into a very massive recession. Hopefully not worse than that, but a very massive recession. Look, we have money that’s so cheap right now. And if I want to borrow money, I can borrow all the money I want. But I’m rich... If somebody is a great, wonderful person, going to employ lots of people, a really talented businessperson, wants to borrow money, but they’re not rich? They have no chance...

"I can fix it. I can fix it pretty quickly...I would do a tax cut. You have to do a tax cut. Because we’re the highest-taxed nation in the world. But I would start...I would immediately start renegotiating our trade deals with Mexico, China, Japan and all of these countries that are just absolutely destroying us. "

"We’re not a rich country. We’re a debtor nation. We’ve got to get rid of – I talked about bubble. We’ve got to get rid of the $19 trillion in debt." How long would that take? "Well, I would say over a period of eight years."

Trump is the only one with a realistic view of the economy and business climate with realistic approach on how to fix it to "make America great again". It is not just a slogan, but I think that with his business background and common sense he does indeed have a workable approach.

Airy-fairy theorizing by Post eggheads vs. real world, hard-headed experience of Trump.

Doesn’t take much thought to choose which is right.

All we have to do is beat Obama’s economy.

Electd anyone of those running but Trump, and four years from now this country will be lucky if things haven’t gotten worse than they are today.

The uniparty and the MSM have got people brainwashed into thinking the only way to get rid of debt is to make cuts. (they never make cuts, they just sometimes decrease increases). The way to get rid of debt is to get rich. And I think he believes it will not be terribly difficult to make America rich again. #1 we have to stop throwing away money to the rest of the world, #2 we have to allow Americans to get rich and contribute to America’s richness (lower taxes, less regulations, repatriate overseas profits). Overall, wealth also needs to not be demonized. Wealth and success of all kinds are really frowned upon and that needs to stop.

Better than the stupidity and incompetence that has been going on in Washington for years.

This will BLOW a FEW DOORS off their hinges.

This is an EXTREMLY UNIQUE interview.

It's also a promotion video clip to get you to sign up for London Real which I did NOT do.

In any event...some VERY POWERFUL clarity as to WHAT'S going on...
and some ULTRA salty language from Dan Pena.

DONALD TRUMP IS GONNA ROCK THE PLANET

Amen

Before America can be great again, the atmosphere for business must be great again. Absent great business there can be no great America.

Radical leftists and radical rightists both are hell bent to damage the business atmosphere and thus America. Actual business knowledge and ability will save us from the ideological claptrap

This particular topic seems to get little serious consideration by the pundits —

Bernie wants to give everyone a lot of free stuff — to hell with the cost!
Hillary wants to give everyone even more free stuff — to hell with the cost!
Cruz doesn’t seem to talk about the economy.
Trump says the debt is a problem, it’s killing the economy, he will fix it, and he think he can do it in 8 years.

Pundit reaction: Trump is a crazy guy; who would vote for him???

How can you say that with a straight face? Business interests own both parties and get everything they want now. How could business environment improve? Federal regulations OSHA EPA etc. are what gives these big cap corps cover and a monopoly. They exchange the "green" agenda for security, an example of corporate cronyism at its finest. It also gives them an excuse to search the world for the cheapest labor possible while claiming that OHSA making their employees wear hard hats is killing them.

I had such a wonderful financial life that just took off in the 80s. I was good at my job and because there were finally jobs available everywhere, good workers were given “merit raises” a couple of times before their yearly review/raise to make sure they were happy and didn’t go elsewhere.

And I remember it well because prior to that (and Reagan), it was just the opposite.

We need that again. We need someone who understands capitalism- because it works. And we need a real leader, not someone with catch phrases and pretty words who will just use the Oval for it’s perks or to repay his friends-or worse, do what he’s told.

But more than anything, we need a patriot; someone who is proud to be an American. Because when you are proud of something, you cherish it, take care of it and do good by it.

YES. And add Jeff Sessions to that - a man who loves the Constitution.

If u want to make America great again, go back to using the Constitution as it was written. After all, that is how we became great.
