‘Fair Trade’: Ted Cruz Rejects GOP Orthodoxy, Joins Jeff Sessions Populist Revolt
Breitbart ^ | 3/31/2016 | Michelle Moons

Posted on 03/31/2016 5:11:07 PM PDT by lodi90

Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz pledges to “stand up for fair trade” in a new state-wide Wisconsin ad hitting on international trade deals, a signature issue of frontrunner Donald Trump’s campaign.

“Free trade” is generally seen as a globalist policy in which restrictions on imports and exports are kept to an absolute minimum. “Fair traders,” on the other hand, argue that purely free trade can have negative consequences for the citizens of a particular country, especially when it comes to wages and employment opportunities for the lower and middle classes. They recommend that sovereign nations negotiate and implement trade deals that prioritize their own people first. This debate has been a centerpiece of the 2016 primary season as both political parties have seen populist factions revolt against their respective establishments over what they view as unfair free trade deals.

Cruz, speaking directly to the camera, says:

Wisconsin is a beautiful place where the people place solutions over slogans.

Our campaign is for the working moms, the truck drivers, the mechanics, and the machinists with calluses on their hands. It’s for the farmers and factory workers and the families who worry about prices going up while paychecks stay flat. It’s for the young people coming out of school unable to find a job.

I’m going to stand up for fair trade, and bring our jobs back from China.

We will see wages going up. We’ll see opportunity again.

We’ll see a President who will stand with the people of Wisconsin, and Americans everywhere.

This is a significant change in policy and rhetoric for Cruz away from Republican party’s limitless trade orthodoxy.

Why the crude name calling?

You weren’t like that when you supported Duncan Hunter.

Do Trump supporters HAVE to take on Trump’s personality?

Like Donald, they would rather name call than be substantive.

I think of Cruz as being more like Duncan Hunter (who I also supported for POTUS) than Reagan.

I compare Cruz to Obama. Trump to Reagan. As for Duncan Hunter, his son Duncan Hunter has endorsed Donald Trump just as nearly every person seeking to secure the border, including the Border Patrol. The list of Trump endorsers is impressive.

I was fooled by Cruz until his limp-wristed condemnation of the fascists in Chicago and my jaw hit the floor. I am embarrassed to have contributed to his campaign.

Don’t feel bad...I hope Trump wins, but even if he does not, he has shown a light of truth on the betrayers...He has exposed the pretenders and frauds in many areas—media, politicians, pundits.

I was in CHicago at the Trump Rally~ in a car surrounded by a crowd of 200 or so anarchists (see video, and I cannot tell you how upset I was to come home and turn on the TV to watch Cruz condemn Trump and support the thugs....all this of course from the comfort of his posh fundraiser in the suburbs.

2 minute video—I am in second car—black SUV. Very scary...Cruz condemned Trump and gave the disruptors a pass. The thugs were not saying anything about Trump BTW

Trump plows the way and Cruz drafts in his wake. When Trump put out his immigration plan last year, a month or two later, Cruz copies it very closely.

Ted is the most repulsive candidate I have ever seen, he is worst than Bill and that takes some doing.

This says Trump's official voter registration records show he was Republican since 1980

Roger Stone says he first met Trump when Trump and his Dad were raising money for Ronald Reagan's election.

Where’s your proof he cheated on his wife? NE and other pro trump sites throw out accusations with no real proof. The women so far identified have said its all lies. You people aren’t just trying to destroy Cruz and his family, but innocent women and their families. Trump might manage to pay off some bimbo, but many of us have enough sense to see this is politics. There is no line you won’t cross to show your love and servitude to this man, even your own soul. Remember this. You who are throwing stones will stand before God one day and be judged for your actions. I don’t mean your little God trump, but the One True God.

So are you lying for lying Ted or just ain't got your facts straight?
