Bill Kristol, founder and editor of The Weekly Standard, tells Newsmax TV he hopes a third-party candidate will emerge if Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are anointed the Republican and Democratic presidential nominees.
"I just don't think [Trump] has the character or temperament to be president of the United States ... [and] we're certainly not going to vote for Hillary," Kristol said Friday to J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime."
"There are a lot of fine Republicans and conservatives in the country, some of them are retired generals, some of them are businessmen, some of them are civic leaders, some of them are retired or current senators or governors.
"Let's see if anyone comes forward. Maybe it's all just a pipe dream. I'm willing to acknowledge it's possible that this won't happen."
And what would a third party be called?
"I kind of like the Federalist Party. They were a great party for the first 12 years in the republic before they went out of business. The Alexander Hamilton Party, there are a lot of good names," said Kristol, whose publication is a leading conservative opinion magazine.
"Look, I don't want to start a third party, I'm a Republican. I've voted Republican in every presidential election in my adult lifetime and virtually every Senate and governor, gubernatorial election.

They hate Trump because he threatens their cozy lifestyle in Washington DC cabal. They will gladly accept Hillary over Trump because she does not threaten their cozy lifestyle.
Kristol should be able to find an acceptable candidate among the three.
Guess Kristol was in Colorado when he said these things.
The two for one special at the local pot shop must have had some potent stuff.

It is no secret that I will never vote Trump. Probably not a secret that everyday more GOP voters decide to never vote for him. I understand where Kristol is coming from though he is far from anyone whose opinions I ever agree with.

In truth, they’ve been worse by far than the RATS because they’ve been successul at BSing all of us into thinking that this business of “installing conservatism” was just damned hard to do and that they were doing the best that they could. Screw me once, shame on you, screw me over and over again, shame on me.
If he’s looking for a three way election he might just as well admit that he’s looking for a way to guarantee Hillary a win.
Perhaps a Bloomberg/GOPe candidate ticket is what he has in mind ... the GOPe has effectively turned Trump and Cruz forces against each other and it will end up getting Hillary elected ..
That is a factor. And perhaps they also agree with Hillary’s left wing policies. They appear to have no love for this country.
Jim maybe this lying dimwit can run as an independent with a dozen of his DC pundit buddies as co VPs!
