Bill Kristol: I Hope a Third Party Candidate Comes Forward

Bill Kristol, founder and editor of The Weekly Standard, tells Newsmax TV he hopes a third-party candidate will emerge if Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are anointed the Republican and Democratic presidential nominees.
"I just don't think [Trump] has the character or temperament to be president of the United States ... [and] we're certainly not going to vote for Hillary," Kristol said Friday to J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime."
"There are a lot of fine Republicans and conservatives in the country, some of them are retired generals, some of them are businessmen, some of them are civic leaders, some of them are retired or current senators or governors.
"Let's see if anyone comes forward. Maybe it's all just a pipe dream. I'm willing to acknowledge it's possible that this won't happen."
And what would a third party be called?
"I kind of like the Federalist Party. They were a great party for the first 12 years in the republic before they went out of business. The Alexander Hamilton Party, there are a lot of good names," said Kristol, whose publication is a leading conservative opinion magazine.
"Look, I don't want to start a third party, I'm a Republican. I've voted Republican in every presidential election in my adult lifetime and virtually every Senate and governor, gubernatorial election.

“I can not believe the Bushes even fooled me for so long.”
Yeah, thinking back, I actually lost some sleep worrying that W wouldn’t win either of his elections, and now I find him and his family to be largely an anethema to my political views. But he was the GOPe $hit sandwich both times, and with the RAT candidates as really bad as they were, there was really no decision to be made. Trump has changed all that, and whether or not he’s your political cup of tea, without him in the mix, we would already have “accepted” Jeb as our “standardbearer” (aka GOPe $hit sandwich du jour). Yeah Cruz is there, but without Trump, there wouldn’t be a Cruz in the contest today.

If he doesn’t know that he should not be in the business in which he is.
Of course he knows.
Of course he is a traitor.
Along with the rest of the eGOP including the last to nominees to run who ran...ran away from being elected for PC-ness and direct orders from higher ups.
A lot of the semi-Conservative pundits have finally started seeing and mentioning what we have been putting out there for years, that the eGOP politicians are lazy and greedy.
They don’t want to be making decisions for the country, they would rather sit back and complain about Obama et al and grow their personal coffers with taxpayer $’s and see that they can do the same with Hillary as president.
What they don’t realize is that when they get close to accomplishing the destruction of Constitutional principles and the dismantling of our Constitutional Republic that their cushy lifestyles will be in shambles.
The People will NOT stand still for their Constitution and rights and liberties being completely wiped out.
The PTBs are begging for revolution,.

If hes looking for a three way election he might just as well admit that hes looking for a way to guarantee Hillary a win.
The goal is not to throw the election to Hillary, but to make sure that no one gets a majority of the electoral college. If that happens, the Presidency gets decided by the House of Representatives, with each state getting one vote.
This gives the Republicans a huge advantage. Right now more than 60% of the states have a Republican majority in Congress. It is extremely unlikely that the Democrats would end up controlling a majority of state Congressional representations. So Hillary would not get elected.
The trick is to choose a candidate who will win several states, enough to deny anybody a majority of the Electoral College.

This is a war not between left and right....it is a war between the stuck up and the rest of us. But let us not hate the stuck up. They are ruled by fear, lest they be found out. They must never, at all costs, admit they are voting for someone as blue collar as Trump. Nor may they ever admit that is really what they hold against him.
To: Jim Robinson
Kristol might as well have endorsed Hillary - he can join those that believe a contested/brokered convention will work in our interests.

It is no secret that I will never vote Trump. It's purists like you that gave us eight years of Obama. Idiots.

Well, he's a RINO! We've known this about GOP-ers for some time, but we needed proof - because we didn't really want to believe. Now we know.
We are rapidly evolving into a one-party country - and that party is Marxist! This cannot end well.

Being annoying after an opus is very bad form. You had no choice but to zot. Yep, totally agree. A severe breach of protocol.
Whomever was paying libbylu got their money's worth of crazy.
She was predictably reliable that way.

We dont want to go third party, because unless the right person does it, it will fail. Who besides Trump would have the gravitas to pull it off? And even then, who would advise that if you can possibly avoid it? Third party runs are very iffy.
Well, guess what. Floor fights at the Republican Convention are just as iffy. You dont have a chance of losing to a Democrat there, but you do have a chance of losing to something almost as bad, a RINO infested GOP.
So when people talk of third party bids, or floor fights, they are both things to be avoided at all cost.
Going into a convention by plan, to enter into a floor fight as your only chance, is crazy talk, and if you actually consider yourself a Conservative, it isnt just crazy talk, its the talk of political suicide.*****************************
Well said.
