Bill Kristol: I Hope a Third Party Candidate Comes Forward
NewsMax ^ | March 25, 2016 | by Bill Hoffman

Posted on 03/25/2016 6:20:09 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Bill Kristol, founder and editor of The Weekly Standard, tells Newsmax TV he hopes a third-party candidate will emerge if Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are anointed the Republican and Democratic presidential nominees.

"I just don't think [Trump] has the character or temperament to be president of the United States ... [and] we're certainly not going to vote for Hillary," Kristol said Friday to J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime."

"There are a lot of fine Republicans and conservatives in the country, some of them are retired generals, some of them are businessmen, some of them are civic leaders, some of them are retired or current senators or governors.

"Let's see if anyone comes forward. Maybe it's all just a pipe dream. I'm willing to acknowledge it's possible that this won't happen."

And what would a third party be called?

"I kind of like the Federalist Party. They were a great party for the first 12 years in the republic before they went out of business. The Alexander Hamilton Party, there are a lot of good names," said Kristol, whose publication is a leading conservative opinion magazine.

"Look, I don't want to start a third party, I'm a Republican. I've voted Republican in every presidential election in my adult lifetime and virtually every Senate and governor, gubernatorial election.

I think it’s the Clintonista’s and the Kristol’nacht’s that hope a third party Ross Perot comes along....

It would be good if Kristol himself became the third-party candidate. Would be nothing to see there

I noticed that even in “conservative” KS, the Republican senator Jerry Moran has come out for the Obama Supreme Court nominee “having hearings”, a euphemism for confirmation. A dozen of “GOP” senators have done the same. Mitch is getting uneasy, I suspect, as KY liberals demand confirmation.

Amen, brother, no 3rd party.

We are about to blow up the GOP-E and take over. We have to hold the course until the Republican party adheres to fully supporting the U.S. Constitution as original intent and truly conservative principles.

Conservatives have been lied to and ignored for too many years. It’s time for us to be heard.

I'm pretty sure that if you review the state party platforms, you will find little or nothing that is repugnant to you as a Constitutional Conservative.

The Republican activists designed the platforms and the RINOs conveniently ignore them. It's time for the same scrutiny to happen at the state and county level to hold these elected positions accountable for fidelity to the platforms.

Accept no excuses.

That's cool, the more people we educate the better for our nation.

A couple weeks ago I was explaining that this was taught back when we had Civics in school.
One of the young employees said, "What's Civics?" He was serious, he didn't even know the word.

It’s all wrong with Kristol - it’s like he’s insane or worse. He wasn’t always that way was he?

"I'm pretty sure that if you review the state party platforms, you will find little or nothing that is repugnant to you as a Constitutional Conservative."

I have usually found that to be the case. Unfortunately, there is currently a movement by some Cruz supporters to try to get the following resolution into a number of state Republican platforms, (including Texas), and urging the RNC to adopt it into the National GOP platform.

"Be it resolved that U.S. Republican Senators and Congressmen introduce and vote for an amendment to the Constitution to define ‘Natural Born Citizen’ as a person born anywhere to at least one parent which is a U.S. citizen at the time of said birth, and shall be eligible to be President of the United States.".

Are Cruz supporters so stupid as to push for this? If so, they can not truly be Consevatives. We know that the RNC is not. Have Conservatives already lost to the GOP-E, liberal/socialist/communist left and the enormous amount of illegal immigrants, including non-citizen muslims, voting illegally?

This is a very dangerous move and must be stopped. This would totally destroy our Constitution and allow foreigners, foreign governments, and radical cults to gain total control over our nation. Get involved by going to your state resolution committees and expressing your outrage at this destructive resolution, urge them to totally reject it. And if we have a States Constitutional Convention, make sure your state sends as delegates True Consrervatives that would defeat that kind of ammendment.

"What's Civics?"

LOL - Back in '08, I said that I had also learned this in Civics in High School, and was promptly called a liar by another FReeper. That didn't go well. He got so mad that he challenged me to copy the exact passage from a 50 year old HS textbook along with the title and year of publication, as if I still had it, lol.

If Bill Kristol says this while knowing a third party throws the election over to the communist democrats, then he’s nothing but a traitor.

Correct, Jim.

Spiteful Billy Kristol and others should immediately drop the 3rd Party pretense and come right out and endorse Hillary, given they're all NWO Zealots!

This approach is not acceptable. I am sure his voice is not a majority opinion. Cruz or Trump, lets have it out fair and square. None of this inside Beltway antics. I’ve had my own issues with Kristol going back 20 years or more when he was the chief to Dan Quayle. I surmised him to be a part of the foreign influence lobby in Washington, D.C.
