Free Beacon Poll: Cruz Expands Lead Over Trump in Wisconsin

The Basswood Research survey of 500 likely Republican primary voters, conducted on March 19 and 20, shows the Texas senator leading Trump by 4.8 points, 36.2 to 31.4. Ohio Gov. John Kasich trails with 20.8.

Cruz’s lead expands dramatically in a head-to-head contest with Trump. If Kasich were to drop out before the primary, 47.8 percent of respondents say they would back Cruz, compared to just 36.2 percent for Trump.

Trump is expected to get 18 out of 42 delegates in Wisconsin. He does not need to win Wisconsin. Even if he gets no delegates in Wisconsin he can easily pick up 18 delegates in some other state.

It doesn’t matter. If the polls are this close, Cruz WILL CRUSH Trump in Wisconsin. So far, Ted Cruz has outperformed his poll numbers by an average of over 10% in the primaries/caucuses held so far. In Kansas, Cruz was behind Trump by 11% in the last polls. He ended up CRUSHING Trump by 25%.

Wondering if this information was intended to be the GOPe knockout punch to Cruz in a contested convention. If so, Trump is the one that played the GOPe’s card, before the convention.

Yep. I too noticed and felt something very unsettling about Cruz since I first saw him. Even my 20 year old daughter said he sounded phony when she saw him in the very first debate.

Now here is something to think about. People are saying these are the beans Trump threatened to spill. Not true. Diamond and Silk, who are close to the Trump campaign, tweeted that Cruz needs to be worried about “Lollipop.” unless and until that comment is explained, Trump’s beans are still hanging over Cruz’ head.

It will be interesting to hear what Cruz has to say. Is it my imagination, or has he been unusually quiet about all this?
