Over the past 28 years there has been a sea change in the media. Not only has the monopoly of the so-called mainstream media been shattered but the phenomenal rise of conservative media has been truly stunning. It began in 1988 with the national syndication of Rush Limbaugh and his distinctive brand of conservative political commentary espoused in an entertaining and captivating way, which opened the flood gates for other conservatives, together with Rush, to dominate the talk radio airwaves. In the 1990s the internet, through hundreds of websites, gave voice to journalists to report stories either ignored or downplayed by the mainstream media and for other conservatives to publish their comments and opinions. Over the years there has been a general good will among all these various players as the goal at the end of the day was to advance the conservative movement as the best political option for the people of this nation.
However, with the overwhelming emergence on the political scene of Donald Trump, someone who is not and has never been a conservative, this once near-monolithic movement is in danger of permanently splintering. While some conservatives are strongly opposed to Trump, many outlets have chosen to unabashedly support him regardless of what he says or does -- or has done or said in the past. Why they have become caught up in the populism sweeping a plurality of primary voters is a question they will have to answer, but on the surface it appears to be for expediencys sake and not because of any loyalty to ideology.

How much debt did we rack up under Bush? How many liberal programs were expanded under Bush? How many 'new' illegals entered the country under Bush?
And trust me - Romney and McCain would have been the same or worse.. I have no clue what Steve McCann's problem is...
I believe Trump will STOP illegal immigration.
Trump will make MUCH better trade deals...
Trump will make the VA responsive or he'll shut 'em down.
Trump probably won't mouth the sacred words of the conservative elites... and he'll never be President of the College Debate Team... So what?
Steve McCann can still be friends with all the GOPe elites... maybe not Trump's 'friend'... Which should be fine. Those of us in flyover aren't paying the incompetents in DC to sit around in drawing rooms debating the finer points of conservatism. WE WANT THESE PEOPLE TO DO THEIR JOBS. Over a thousand new Republicans elected in the last eight years... and they haven't done anything they promised to do...
‘We are on a mission from God ...’
And I am confident that we are not on a mission to support the bribes of delegates.
I am fairly confident that Trump will win, but if the convention results in an unpopular nominee, Trump might back an independent who has even more support.

That has been the position of many here since the campaign started. Why we are attacking each other just hurts us. Imagine if at this point of the campaign it was Trump/Cruz, Cruz/Trump and we sat on that position.
This would have already been over.
Thank you very much, MEG33!!
