What has happened to Free Republic? [What difference at this point can it possibly make?]

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:13:11 PM PDT by katwoman5779

Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.

You are a sick individual which isn’t a surprise considering whom you support.

Is this finding a dead son in a crib?

Nothing on that document to dispute that statement... What exactly is your purpose here? Just to find personal facts about Cruz's parents and share them? Nothing I've seen you post has any relevance to Ted as a candidate, so I am mystified by where you are going with this.

They keep repeating the lie because it’s all they have. They HAVE to stop Cruz for Trump to win.

Shades of 2008/2012, except the last time we had a no-valid-birth-certificate candidate vying for the WH, it was a proglodyte!

I guess ol' Rafael figures if the Kenyan could post an OBVIOUS FORGERY on WH.gov, lies and half-truths will work for him too!

It’s ironic you should post that GIF as “Citizen Donald” is like him in many ways
You obviously don't know much about the backgrounds of either man, do you?

[>>Keep in mind, all that time he was donating, Trump was not running for anything. He was using politicians to get business done.<<

So that makes it okay then - he’s someone willing to screw the rest of us over for his own personal profit - and we should vote for him for that reason? Amazing logic.

Totally mind boggling.

It makes you almost as mad as when, prior to the nomination, Rondod Reagan selected Richard Schweikart as his running mate! /sarc

Yes I saw those two comments 639 & 735 but after I made the post you replied to. I comment as I read through the thread, perhaps better in future to read to the end and come back but drawbacks with that approach too. You both covered ground my post touched upon and amplified the 1947-1977 conditions in post 639.

I don’t know where I found a ref to the law as 1952 when I posted but now it appears to have been the 1947 Law which had minimal changes until 1977, as so has several dates, including 1952, for those minor changes. The point I was making is that in the period of time 1947-1977 a child born in Canada that was entitled to a citizenship other than Canadian needed to decide which to claim in the Canadian system, Canada would not recognize them as dual citizens. That does not imply that Canadian law binds the other country involved (USA in this case).

Ms Cruz could have chosen Canadian, in fact to be able to get a Canadian birth certificate she needed to make that determination, and the US Government could still have awarded Raphael(Ted) US citizenship based on her citizenship and her application. She would have had to apply for that citizenship to be recognized by documenting her & the child’s records with the consulate or the State department.

What has been apparent for the last month is that the conservative darling with impeccable credentials is scorned by the Republican electorate. He is preferred more than the dry cod wonks of the GOPe but still shunned.

Being shunned by the Republican electorate means with absolute certainty that he will be shunned by the total electorate in a general election.

The problem is not with Free Republic but with the darling candidate.

Charisma and a message of strong forward movement away from the odorous Obama swamp are being shown to be preferable to puritanical conservatism

People seem to want to make America great again.

Concise, insightful, to-the-point & 100% TRUTH...

Let's hope & pray that the sore cruzermans drop their scorched earth tantrums and except We the People's only path to victory over the GOPe and the Prolodyte DnC...

Maybe, but then Trump turns around and accuses Cruz of being beholden to doners.

You may have noticed that there is a slight difference in being beholden to donors than having the donor class beholden to you.

Trump came out strong the first day against the whole immigration cartel, while Cruz stood silent waiting for hi money men to give him permission to speak out about a symbolic wall. Many Trumpets waited quietly hoping that Cruz would figure out why Trump was dominating the race on less than 5 issues, he did not. Whether he didn't get it or his donors would not allow it does not matter. I switched to Trump because of that issue and the Cruzers helped move me along as well.

My original comments about Trump was; He is a fumble mouthed blowhard that can't finish a sentence. Carly if given a spot on stage would blow him away, she didn't get a spot and she herself was made irrelevant.

-— the sore cruzermans-—

my thought is that Cruz can achieve a large measure of power by entering an alliance with Trump

Trump is the deal maker and will make a win win deal

There at least some Rational Cruz delegates in Tennessee that did just that and vowed to vote for the winner between the two.
