What has happened to Free Republic? [What difference at this point can it possibly make?]

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:13:11 PM PDT by katwoman5779

Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.

Well thank you. It’s just going to be very difficult for me to decide whose house I’m going to for my very first July 4th barbeque! ;)

“Please explain the fact that Hillary wins in nearly EVERY SINGLE poll of dozens vs. Trump.”

His mind’s made up - don’t confuse him with the facts.

No poll has EVER given Trump more than a 5-point lead over Clinton, whereas dozens have given her larger leads than that over Trump: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/general_election_trump_vs_clinton-5491.html#polls

The same could have been said about Reagan in 1980. At this point in time Reagan was behind Jimmy Carter by 20-30%. Trump is only behind by a few points and in some polls ahead. And Trump has just started taking aim at Clinton.

No, I’m not a liar, but I will dig through, as you very well could be correct. It could have been in threads I didn’t delve into, because at that time I wasn’t interested in Romney OR McCain and didn’t care about what as going on with them. ;)

Either way, it’s ugly out there and I just wish us FReepers could not be so ugly toward each other. Ultimately, we are on the same side of saving America, am I right?

Trump’s unfavorable rating is at 60%+.

“having a net-negative favorable rating, like Romney’s, has almost always led to defeat. Consider the record. In mid-April 1980, Carter’s numbers were stuck at 43 percent favorable to 48 percent unfavorable; he wound up losing to Reagan by 440 electoral votes. By the end of March 1984, Walter Mondale had slipped from 40 percent favorable and 31 percent unfavorable—his February stats—to 32 percent favorable and 37 percent unfavorable; the only state he won in November was Minnesota. On February 27, 1996, Bob Dole posted an anemic 23 percent favorable rating, and his numbers had not improved much by May, when they registered at 27 percent favorable to 29 percent unfavorable. Even though Dole eventually dug out of his hole, he still lost the general election by more than 8 million votes. History shows that if voters don’t like you in the spring, they tend not to vote for you in the fall.” - http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/03/19/is-mitt-romney-the-most-unpopular-presidential-nominee-ever.html

There is NO "article"; this stupid vanity is just another whiny little personal POS vanity.

What are YOU talking about "quantity" V. "QUALITY"? My replies ARE "quality" and I don't post idiotic, puerile, uninformed, uneducated, trivial PERSONAL TEMPER TANTRUMS!

Damned straight I've been here a very long time and know what FR was like from WHITEWATER time. I know all of the stupid scandals, FR slang, what the first off site rooms were and what THE ALLEY was. DO YOU?

I was part of several different groups here that did detective work on Hillary, some of which was quote SAND RECOGNITION, by Rush and with a hat tip by Brit Hume on the 6:00PM news.

WHAT HAVE YOU EVER DONE that has ever been "memorable" ?

And every now and a gain, I've seen one STUPID vanity, written b y people who weren't here back when, that is always WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO FR? LOL

I say nothing compares to this with respect to the amount of trolling...and the examples of what is allowed and what is not. The Breaking News section has been relegated to stream of consciousness taunts. Moderation in that area has gone to zero.

It’s telling.

The TPP/Corker stuff definitely raised some flags for me, but I was willing to call it a mistake, or a simple misunderstanding.

I kept watching as Trump brought up issue after issue without backing down, and I begrudgingly admired him for doing so. I think it was January some time, when Shrillary attacked Trump with her #waronwomen stuff, that I more than took notice. Trump eviscerated her with a tweet, and a couple of media statements, and the heretofore unchallenged witch and lord of the left just started to melt. They were silent for almost a week, while the media reported Trump's vollying back as begrudging fact.

At the end of the slinking away, someone here linked me to a Cruz comment in December, where he had ruled out the sexcapades of the Clintons out of bounds, not worthy of a campaign issue.

It was less than a week later, I changed.

Yeah favorability ratings mean so much. Please explain how the idiots in Congress keep getting elected with a Congressional Unfavorable Rating of 80%+.

Explain Ben Carson? He had great favorable ratings.

Explain Little Marco? He had great favorable ratings.

I can explain it. Favorability ratings mean jack f*ck’n sh!t.

So what if Trump changed his mind since four hears ago?
At least he was not a Canadian citizen four years ago like your beta male boy, Teddy!

Spoken like a True Trumpster. ROFL. First, call you a liar even though you have Trump’s own words. Having failed at that, bring up other candidates.

If Trump’s position on illegal immigrants was different just 4 years ago than it is now, what assurance do you have that what he’s saying now is his true position? I mean, besides the fact that he’s cast a spell on you and you just have faith. And please answer without bringing up other candidates or making me the issue
