Should Trump and Cruz unite with we the people against the establishment uni-party?

Posted on 03/16/2016 1:31:00 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

The biggest plus is a Trump/Cruz ticket would immediately secure the nomination for us (the majority of the right-leaning grassroots voters), end any possibility of a GOPe betrayal at the convention, and would ensure the Republican party is finally with we the grassroots people (tea party, conservatives, religious people, economic conservatives, business people, middle class, blue collar, national security patriots, etc, ie, a rebirth of the Reagan Coalition) and against the globalist GOP big government establishment. It’d be a yuuuge middle finger to the elite ruling classes of both parties.

And it would have coattails guaranteeing a pro-America landslide against the America-hating Marxists and a strengthening of the Republican majority in the congress and in local and state governments. And finally begin a return to constitutional, pro-America, pro-free-market government and a reversal of the slide into godless socialism and globalism.

A mandate from we the people to secure the borders, enforce the law, deport the illegals, end sanctuary cities, end the war on Christianity, cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the regulations, end the war on American industry, end the war on coal gas & oil, bring back a growing economy, bring back manufacturing and jobs, and rebuild the military.

Unlike the GOPe, this is what real Americans want and what both candidates propose doing.

So let’s quit bickering, join forces, and make it happen.

Can you imagine Cruz right behind McTurtle in the Senate every day? Cruz would show up just to stick a shiv in his back.

“These contests are almost all winner-take-all now. Kasich staying in helps Trump enormously.”

Yep. The only logic I can find behind Kasich staying in is to ensure Cruz doesn’t get the nomination. The GOPe wants a brokered convention.

“Cruz would out-earn Trump in delegates if Kasich dropped out.”

Kasich’s delegates would likely split three ways:

1) Some would go to Cruz (the anti-Trump faction)
2) Some would go to Trump (moderates who wont’ move right enough to support Cruz)
3) Some would not vote

How those would break down in any given state is anyone’s guess, but the assumption that ALL of Kasich’s voters would go to Cruz is without doubt invalid.

One one hand it would help unify the GOP, but the main problem I see is that the Trump/Cruz ticket would likely lose to Hillary. It’s not worth the risk. So we would have a united LOSER Republican party. Terrific!

Jim,

I have been saying for eon's Cruz can be his legal sounding board i.e. his consigliere for fans of the "Godfather", as he can run things buy Cruz to see if they pass Constitutional muster. He would be worth his weight in gold if he did...

In the Western (non-costal) states, Yes Cruz may bag in some delegates. In IN, PA, NY, NJ, MD, RI, CT, WV not so much. Take a look at Massachusetts, Trump smoked the competition with 49.3% of the vote. His support in those areas is only going to grow.

I think the time has come to put an end to the failed inept GOPe and Cruz/Trump could do it. I personally hate to see Cruz as VP but it might be best at this time. I would think Trump might be happy with one term and then hand the mantle to Cruz for 2 terms. Our very survival is at stake.

Should? Perhaps.

Will? Probably not.

And the timing isn’t right in any case. Teddy would want to maximize his value. Not quite there yet.

But who knows? Teddy appears to be obsessed with the idea that he will be President. He might be. Just not this time. He’s also willing to win at all costs. Which is another way of saying....willing to win at any cost.

I might end up surprised, but I don’t see it happening and have no desire to see it happen.

I support Trump but would vote for Cruz as president, probably while holding my nose. However, I would vote, joyfully, for a Trump - Cruz ticket.

That ship has sailed.

If Trump can’t win, Cruz certainly can’t win;
therefore on the assumption Trump wins:

Trump is not a guy to take disloyalty lightly;
Ted is impatient to be out in front and is not a team player.

So, no.

I'm surprised more haven't seen that Cruz has gone to the dark side. He's going to announce Carly as VP (woman vote), go all-in with GOPe (though already 3/4 of way there), and push for contested/brokered convention. He says there's a difference between contested and brokered but both just a move to steal the nomination from the frontrunner:

Cruz: Why Yes, Denying Trump the Nomination at a Contested Convention Would be Legitimate

I hope so, especially if Trump would actually listen to Cruz on issues he needs to be spun up.

“And you Cruz guys do the same thing. Pot meet Kettle.”

Go through this thread and count the number of Trump supporters who have basically said they’d rather go it alone than have anything to do with Cruz. Or the GOPe. That means your is willing to throw away 50% of the base just to prove how macho you are. It also means Trump would have to tack hard left.

Do you people realize just how insane that is? It guarantees Hillary.

In principle, I say yes.

There is one caveat. The NWO could seek to take out Trump and install Cruz forcing Cruz to accept a puppet presidency. We could even see a replay of JFK/LBJ or Reagan/Bush. Although Reagan did not die after John Hinckley, he was less effective after the assassination attempt and Papa Bush and other NWO operative had bigger roles in the administration.

A tie?

Man Cruz people never cease to amaze me

My feeling on this right now is Trump should wait it out and get his delegates and he can dictate to the turds

Cruz just brings his delegates....Trump will carry Texas

His help in the general is harder to ascertain

I used to think this would be great idea.....I’ve cooled on it

Not sure who is Trumps best pick is

Another outsider maybe to kill the establishment

“But wardaddy Cruz is an outsider....”

Not to me he’s not anymore...he’s just intensely disliked personally

I’m talking another non politician.....Shame Petraeus has girl baggage

“My concern is that Cruz could bring more negatives to the ticket than positive.”

My concern with Cruz is he seems to have negative charisma.

As someone pointed out, a few years of studying under Trump would significantly improve Ted’s communication skills. Whether you love or hate Trump, there’s no doubt he has mad communication skills—he knows how to CONNECT with people.

Interesting thing is the RNC media is floating a similar idea that Trump show good will and pick a GOPe like Nikki Haley or Kasich for VP, then they would feel better.
