Breaking: Cruz Negotiating With Trump for VP Spot
A high ranking Cruz campaign official has told Elect Leaders that Sen. Cruz is in negotiations with Mr. Trump to become his Vice Presidential Nominee after Rubio dropped out Tuesday. Sen. Cruz has been the most consistent performer in primaries behind Trump. They are seeing the writing on the wall and want to negotiate from a point of strength which will evaporate over time.
The official stated Mr. Trump is interested in using Sen. Cruzs ground game in the general election, likes his appeal to the conservative base and his stance on immigration. Of the other options for VP none hold as strong of an opinion on immigration outside of Governor Jan Brewer from Arizona who is also being considered.
Senator Cruz in exchange for his support is wanting to be named to the Supreme Court if an opening occurs while Mr. Trump is president. Mr. Trump does not see this as an issue and a small price to pay to bring Sen. Cruz his fundraisers, donors and staff on board
Note how many delegates and the percent of the remaining delegates each candidate needs to win.
With winner take call, Trump is now certain to get the delegates needed. Compare his needs with that of Cruz or the others.
While you're at it, look at the (red, toward the bottom, just off center to the right) number of unassigned delegates out of those who have been decided so far. Looks like they are dragging their feet reporting out so as to downplay the importance of yesterday's primaries, and the size of Trump's dominance.
Cruz is ineligible, Rubio ineligible ....Trump/Kasich...now that’s the ticket!
Man oh man...if Trump gets the nomination, who should be the VP...the other drag Sarah Palin? Phhhht...
His VP is going to be someone from the GOP-e, I guarantee that pick.
Why? The GOP-e really doesn’t want that rumored ‘brokered’ convention. Let’s face it they don’t! As hard as they are going to try for it, their efforts will fall flat and we will end up with Hillary! IF the GOP-e is as much ABC as the general Republican Party is...they will have to strike a deal with the man who authored, “The Art of the Deal.”
With all due respect, Ted’s blaming of Trump for last week’s near riot at the Chicago rally, disqualifies Ted from the SCOTUS.
He didn’t even recognize Trump’s first amendment rights, or his supporters rights to assemble and listen to him.
He blamed Trump for that.
Very poor judgement, and a lack of understanding of the first amendment.
Yes. But Trump never made mention of it publicly.
This story doesn’t pass my smell test.
I have been following them watching for that “deal” and I think you are probably right. But I wouldn’t say it was “rigged” because it’s not over ‘til the (blonde) fat land sings!
Cruz should be solicitor general of US. Best possible place, with the potential for the longest lasting achievements to the country.
He is too abrasive to be a good politician, but he is one of the best lawyers conservatives have to offer.
Trump/Cruz isn’t Reagan/Bush. It’s Bush/Reagan. I’d support it, but let’s keep things in perspective.
Katrina Pierson and Ted Cruz committed adultery. Get over yourself. We are not choosing a Pope!
I find this extremely difficult to believe. With the inflammatory rhetoric spewing from Trump’s mouth about Sen Cruz being “ the biggest liar he has ever seen”, the Donald might just have sealed his own first ballot loss.
Sen Cruz has the Donald by the short hairs and I don’t know if he will loosen his grip until we are into the convention.Politicians are notoriously thick skinned when you criticize their position but thin skinned when you criticize on a personal level.
Yeh and if Ted got out and announced for the good of the party and uniting the conservatives behind Trump would show an unselfish position on his part. He and Trump could phrase it as ‘time to put away our differences and join together to unite the party’ going forward. Cruz would put to be any notion that he was an establishment candidate (even for a short while). Maybe he does this after the next primary so Kasich loses any perceived Ohio bounce— if that even matters.
I am not sure why so many here don’t understand that Reagan didn’t like Bush and didn’t trust him.
Why would you flip it and claim it is Bush/Reagan.
My comparison stands as the correct one.
True. I keep forgetting that. Trust me I can’t stand Cruz so getting him out of politics for good was sounding good. Lol.
I remember that there was no love lost between the two. Just saying Trump isn’t Reagan and never was. Not even in the same ballpark. But he will do, if he’s the nominee.
What???? Cruz has zipper problems????
Possibly...Mary Fallin, Republican Governor of Oklahoma.
Nope. He could not block Obama so what makes you think he can block trump?
That is the sad truth.
