Breaking: Cruz Negotiating With Trump for VP Spot
A high ranking Cruz campaign official has told Elect Leaders that Sen. Cruz is in negotiations with Mr. Trump to become his Vice Presidential Nominee after Rubio dropped out Tuesday. Sen. Cruz has been the most consistent performer in primaries behind Trump. They are seeing the writing on the wall and want to negotiate from a point of strength which will evaporate over time.
The official stated Mr. Trump is interested in using Sen. Cruzs ground game in the general election, likes his appeal to the conservative base and his stance on immigration. Of the other options for VP none hold as strong of an opinion on immigration outside of Governor Jan Brewer from Arizona who is also being considered.
Senator Cruz in exchange for his support is wanting to be named to the Supreme Court if an opening occurs while Mr. Trump is president. Mr. Trump does not see this as an issue and a small price to pay to bring Sen. Cruz his fundraisers, donors and staff on board
There was once two brothers. One went off to sea, one became vice-president. Neither was ever heard from again.
Vice President in a Trump administration is a short route to obscurity. And Cruz doesn't want that.
You may be surprised.
I’ve been in the room with him. He has a tremendous amount going for him. But doesn’t exude “Top Dog” pheromones. I think he’d go for it, with guaranteed ideological points on the board.
Cruz would be like Scalia 2.0
Name anyone else who would be a better pick.
NO.
Not if cruz keeps hanging out with beck
I hope these two do join forces in some way. Whether that would be with Cruz as a VP, or AG, or a SCOUS appointment, it doesn’t matter. If they don’t join forces, I fear true conservatism will be split and destroyed and America will fall to the socialist Washington cabal.
If they don’t find a way to join forces through peaceful means, conservatives will only be left with violent means after Hillary wins the Presidency and that will not be good for anyone. (I say violent because I believe Hillary and the Supreme Court she creates will move to make the second Amendment invalid and personal and religious rights subjective to what the Fed says.)
Bingo.
That’s “The Deal”.
I’m a Cruz advocate, but it is time to be realistic. Even if Ted could wrest the nomination in a floor-fight, it would be very damaging to his prospects in the general election. I’d like to go into the convention with the Base united behind the two anti-establishment candidates.
If Trump would defer to Cruz on the Supreme Court picks, I’m on board with this. I think Trump intends to delegate a lot of things, the VP position could be very powerful, if Trump is on board with that and it would well-position Cruz for succession (he is a young man after all).
It would also be good insurance for Trump if all know there is a solid conservative waiting in the wings to carry on the fundamental transformation back to a Constitutional Republic.
And I want to tell the Obamacare-pushing, Common Core-advocating, amnesty-loving, Soros-backed candidate, Kasich, to take a long walk off a short pier.
And then on to Hillary, the troll at the bridge.
A VP certainly can have a whole lot of influence if a president delegates such to him/her.
He’s never been a judge...why give this guy, with a penchant for lying...a seat on the SCOTUS?
His resume does not qualify him for SCOTUS.
He should go back to the Senate and try to do his job without pissing off everyone there.
Its politics, been that way since man crawled out from the slime.

I suppose it could be so.
But this is way past referring to trickle down as voodoo economics.
Too early for Trump to pick a VP. Offer Cruz the option that he will be picked for either VP, a cabinet position or SCOTUS seat but to be determined at a later date and only if Cruz throws his full support behind him. Otherwise no deal.
Not the point. There was some kind of truce between them and then something happened.
I think Cruz started it with some behind the scenes meeting where he dissed Trump but I can’t remember.
It doesn’t matter how nasty Trump has gotten.
I will say again, TRUMP DOES NOT FORGET.
Think along the lines of how Jarrett does not forget.
I’d prefer he continue his run for President.
Trump / Omarosa!
Cruz as AG would be exactly what this country needs. Someone who would enforce immigration laws, put Hildabutt behind bars, and support the constitution. As VP, he would be OK. They both threw barbs at each other during the primaries, and before the primaries, I read that they had a few private meetings....scripted?
And unlike Reagan, Trump probably won’t have to worry about having an assassination attempt less than 60 days after being sworn in.
No.
If nothing in the constitution prohibits it, which nothing does, then a sitting VP can be nominated to the Supreme Court. I'd guess such a VP could even retain his VP spot until the confirmation hearings are completed.
And then the VP could smoothly move over to the Supreme Court, and be smoothly replaced by some other cabinet member, such as the Secretary of Energy, or something.
Trump is alpha dog and that works differently. They don’t carry grudges; they do make their dominance clear.
