Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump views protesters as disloyal people worthy of punishment and that the best response to Mr. Trump is to defeat him at the ballot box, reiterating his own pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee in the fall.
Mr. Cruz re-upped criticism of Mr. Trump for recently having rally attendees pledge their support to him, likening it to an action kings and queens demand of their subjects.
Its also reflected in his treatment of protesters, where anyone whos a protester is disloyal and must be punished, Mr. Cruz told reporters in Illinois ahead of the March 15 primary there.
The only pledge that I am interested in, the only hand-raising that Im interested in is on January 20, 2017, when I hope to raise my right hand with my left hand on the Bible and pledge to each and every one of you that I will preserve, protect [and] defend the Constitution and fight for the hard-working taxpayers, Mr. Cruz said.

That is a question the voters are asking: At what point do we say enough is enough? Mr. Cruz said. If Donald Trump is the nominee, he is a disaster, and the answer is to beat him.

He didn’t vote for TPP. There is nothing wrong with TPA generally. He didn’t vote for the immigration bill. It’s not that hard to understand.
Thanks! I have taken the liberty to rewrite 326, too, ahead of the mods:

Pinkbell,
So what is the deal here? Did the article change or is that excerpt your summary? Where is the truth?
At 318, you can see the full text of the article at the same link that I posted earlier today. Luckily, I had kept the tab open.
The text is different at the link now. The article was obviously edited and updated. I have seen this in other papers like the Daily Mail.
If you don’t believe me, why don’t you email the writer?
Wow! Every day I’m more in awe at how much Ted Cruz panics the powers that be. They’re really moving heaven and earth to try to stop him.
No Ted. Trump actually believes in the First Amendment and does not appreciate disruptors trying continually to stop him from speaking. The radical leftists only rarely disrupt your rallies because they know you aren’t a real threat to them.
You should quit spreading media propaganda too. For the one time that he said he’d like to punch a disruptor and the one time he said his people should beat up anyone throwing tomatoes at him (hardly peaceful protestors!), he’s said, “Don’t hurt the protestor” dozens of times more. But that doesn’t really matter. Free speech must be protected. It is not legitimate for a constitutionalist to blame violence and anti-free speech actions of the left on someone because of his Constitutionally protect words. And nobody should kid themselves, these “protests” have nothing to do with Trump once saying, beat up any tomato throwers and I’ll pay your legal fees. It’s happening because he said, we’re going to build a wall and we’re going to temporarily halt Muslims from entering the country, i.e. controversial political speech.
Trump is the only one making the right to speak whatever opinion is on your mind a key aspect of his campaign. He is the only one willing to fight the oppressors from all sides on this issue. Free speech = free thought, the most fundamental of rights.
All I know is that the article posted on the thread is so different then the article if you click on the link and read it there.
Usually if a writer changes what was said previously they say it has been "updated". If the Washington Times changed the article without saying so then maybe this is another reason we should NOT rely on the printed word to choose sides.
Pinkbell you suggest we write the editor. If I get time tomorrow, I may just do that.
Trump was told by PD or SS that Rahm told PD not to arrest anyone and that a plan was in place by disruptors to storm the stage.
Trump said that he, himself, called it off.
By the way, a couple code pink chicks is nothing compared to hundreds of far left goon thugs.
Those thugs weren’t there to listen to a person on stage and discuss things.
Ted’s theater is impressive to a few, I guess.
A definitive thread you started.
Both Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh held their punches reg. Cruz even though they agree that these leftist protesters are essentially brown shirts. But it will be harder after this news gets out.
NO, SENATOR CRUZ. READ MICHELLE MALKIN’S ‘UNHINGED’. That’s EXACTLY what Trump, Hannity, and Rush are talking about.
Your pain will all be over tomorrow.
The article has changed, I agree. The only explanation is that it was changed by the author. I still feel like you think I am lying. I don’t appreciate that.
If I was tech savvy, I’d have taken a screen shot. I am not. I provided text of the original at 318 where you can send it to the writer. His info was at the bottom.
So sick of Ted’s beta male candy ass
I’m taking you at your word and I hope you kept a screenshot. This is a material change to a published article. If I had to guess, I’d say the Cruz people were livid that the words were first presented as a direct quote, and a damning one at that. There is sure a different meaning in the article now. This would be high-order journalistic malpractice.
Or maybe the reporter is livid because a lilly-livered editor softened an actual quote under pressure from the campaign. His journalistic integrity is certainly impugned. We may never know the truth here.
Jim, this is a perfect example of why “fair use” needs to be revisited and this example may be of value in a future defense. As I have written before, had this been print media, there would be hardcopy and as for most of the sources posted here, a press run in the thousands. The next edition might contain a markedly different replacement article but the record is clear and documented in all those original copies.
There is no such safeguard in the new media unless sites like FreeRepublic post entire articles as electronically published as the record for everyone to see. This is in the public’s interest to have in new media a “print” record as we have had for centuries in the Gutenberg media.
There is a risk that a poster may have introduced subtle changes and it may be necessary for software such as ours to automatically archive the text from the link at the time of posting. That would be a prudent defensive measure.
Yup. We used to catch these news people changing their text once in awhile in the early days of online news, but haven’t seen so much recently. My guess is that the Cruz people didn’t like the original copy as published and had them change it.
I didn’t know how to take a screenshot. My stupid Firefox crashed, and I lost it. I did post the original text here if you wish to check with the writer.
I listened yesterday, because I was interested in what he had to say.
upon reflecting, I think Rush missed the boat. I mean, EVERYONE knew these were bought and paid for agitators and disruptors. So it was no real "reach" to blame the democrat operatives.
The real point to the story was the comments by Kasich, Rubio, and Cruz. And Rush glossed right over that (at least in the first hour I listened).
Yes that's another thing. He really seemed to play the "I'm the best Christian" card way too hard. Someone said he is into "seven mountains Dominianism" which I've never heard of and need to remember to look up. It sounds more like a Glenn Beck thing.
It shows that Cruz is a communist. Like Soros and his other handlers. Its all about the top billionairs and no one else. This guy has shown himself to be a true snake in the grass. I’ve always had doubts about Cruz. The continual comments that got him a lot of publicity seemed over the top. Hopefully he can get on the save America bandwagon for good. Right now he sounds like an old russian leader. Pretty pathetic. Drop out Ted you have no chance.
