Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said on Friday that Donald J. Trump bore responsibility for creating an environment that encourages violence at his events.
Speaking to reporters at a local Republican dinner outside Chicago, where Mr. Trump had just canceled a rally amid fierce confrontations between his supporters and protesters, Mr. Cruz began by saying that the protesters who took violence into their own hands were responsible for the episode.
But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top, Mr. Cruz continued. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.
Mr. Cruz invoked the protests and violent police run-ins at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and predicted that future skirmishes were likely.
When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates, Mr. Cruz said. And today is unlikely to be the last such instance.

“If you had used this opportunity to hit the disruptive violent leftist thugs, [it] would have elevated you.”
That’s the thing I’m noticing about Ted: every time he has an opportunity to take the high road and elevate himself and solidify the support of this supporters by taking the righteous action, Ted takes the low road. I think that says a heck of a lot about the Ted Cruz’s makeup, and what it says is not a good thing.
Contrast that with Trump’s action in this case, which was to cancel his appearance at the rally. That was the high road and also the smart thing to do.
We need signs that say:
“The slavers were democRATs!”
“The KKK were democRATs”
“The segregationists were democRATs”
“Klansman Senator Byrd was a democRAT”
-AND-
(most dangerous of all)
“Republicans Freed the Slaves”
I agree. You can’t call out for violence at your rallies then be freaked out when it actually happens. Of course the protesters are wrong. Cruz said so but that part gets conveniently overlooked.
Punch in the face.
Take out on a stretcher.
Rough up a bit, I’ll pay the legal fee.
Mexicans are rapist.
All Muslims are bad ( changed to “a lot of them are”).
Trump has played a role in fomenting this, and denying It won’t change what he has said.
It is almost like he was looking for a reaction. Well he got one. A wrong illegal anti 1st amendment reaction, but he got one.

Heh heh heh. Feel free to use it.
“But Trump has been doing the same thing.”
Right, it’s partially Trump’s fault because we all know that the only discourse that should be allowed in the U.S. should be placid, polite, politically correct, non-offensive, never angry, and under no circumstance should it ever offend a single snowflake ensconced in one of their safe zones.
Cruz sunk his own ship with this:

Ted Cruz said violent protests are the predictable consequence of the atmosphere Trumps campaign has created, while Bernie Sanders had his own strong words for the Republican presidential candidate.
So it now appears Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders are two peas in a pod. Who woulda thunk it?
And the real beauty of it is that the heroic Trump cancelled to avoid really bad things from happening by the leftist-anarchists who have been organizing this violence for weeks via social media, while the anarchists are crowing that they shut down a free-speech event, which isn’t going to go over too well with many people in this country. Seems to me Trump came out smelling like a rose and the anarchists came out smelling like poop.
This Chicago Atrocity by leftist-anarchists will make Trump President!
“Ted Cruz supporters should be ashamed of themselves.”
just the dozen or so Cruz-trolls paid to defend the indefensible Cruz here. But of course, they of the Cruz dirty-tricks department will have no shame.
on the other hand, many (most?) of the legitimate Cruz supporters here are sickened by Cruz’s opportunistic attack on free speech and assembly and support of the highly organized leftist-anarchist anti-free-speech mob.
And not a single one of them - Cruz or “several thousand people” - are going to win the GOP nomination this year. So your ballot ended up pretty much where I told you to put it.
Ah, so the ends justify the means. Got it, comrade.
So Mr Constitution is a now a thugs-lives-matter-too member. Cruz shows more and more everyday why he should not be president.
Trump was just rushed on stage by a protester, secret service took him out.
“I dont know what Trump does to prevent this from happening again. Hes always gone for volume at his rallies and they cant keep the protesters out unless they start screening. After last night every left-wing loonie organization in the country will be trying to out-do Chicago.”
You are 100% correct. And I don’t know what the solution is either.
But I do know that it would be smart for Trump to respond to these protests each and ever time by pointing to them and saying:
“Look America, this is what your country has become. This is the result of eight years of rule by “Progressives”. Is this what you really want for the future of your country? Do you LIKE having the anarchist mod shutting down free speech and free assembly? Keep voting for the “Progressives and pretty soon no opposition will be allowed to speak in our country.”
Exactly right, my friend!
My message to Cruz, Kasich, and Rubio:
“You Can’t Always Get What You Want!”
Especially when you have the light of TRUTH shined on your dishonest actions for all to see!!
Trump did not cause all the organization and money that went into this protest.
Unbelievable assertion.
And Cruz is dropping lower and lower as we speak! The light of TRUTH was made to shine on all his dishonesty for all to see and his supporters are really seeing it. AND they should not feel bad about the fact that they were fooled as so many of us were fooled by many in DC that we trusted.
Whats next, Ted and Rubio going to blame the cops for getting hurt?
I can’t remember a conservative who was thought of so highly, drop so low, so fast.
So, I can tell you've also had your ear up the *** of Maddow, huh 7.
I was researching City of Houston’s Office of International Communities and went down and examined about 2k documents almost 2 years ago. One e-mail I obtained shows the chain e-mail members that are the ethnic separatist hub groups, refugee providers,CAIR, etc..also Quan Foster a legal firm that is based on immigration services. Very establishment-Bush. Charles Foster is now on Cruz’s campaign finance team.

That post is like the seven degrees of separation.
So what did Trump do to exacerbate the Travon/Gentle Giant riots? For that matter, what did he do to p!$$ of the Barbary Pirates?
