Cruz, Rubio and Kasich criticize Trump for creating ‘environment’ for Chicago protest
The Washington Post ^ | March 11, 2015 | David Weigel

Posted on 03/11/2016 8:31:56 PM PST by lonestar67

"The responsibility for that lies with protesters, who took violence into their own hands. But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top. Any candidate is responsible for the culture of a campaign. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discord," Cruz said

“You are either with the Americans or you are third world filth. Lock and Load.”

I’m curious, what does “with the Americans” mean?

From what I’ve read and seen, Trump needs to encourage his supporters to let security personnel do their job. He should’ve definitely said something about that protester being hit without provocation and about the reporter trying to ask him a question. Or have I missed him denouncing such actions?

"if Trump made comments about wanting to punch somebody, that’s not a good tone to set, for civil discourse.

See my Post #453.

I recognized the rally disruption tactics the first time I saw them. This is a tactic they are employing to shut down Trump's historic rallies. You have to understand that. And, you have to look at the videos closely to understand the context of what these troublemakers are doing. When there are as many as 17 disruptions in a given rally, you can understand how calculating these tactics are made. And, there are problems where patience wears thin.

The Chicago Police told Trump tonight that these troublemakers in Chicago were organized by the Soros organization, Move On. This organization should be given a lawsuit for the costs of renting the University of Illinois Chicago Pavilion.

Or maybe he chose the location because he owns property there and felt a duty to the community in which he is invested in, to hold a rally in their home town.

I think you have the correct answer. Trump loves Chicago...in spite of the crap that went down tonight, it is a beautiful city.

Since he attracts such large crowds, he is limited in available venues in March==before the Illinois primary. He is visiting other states holding primaries as well.

I believe he wanted to hold a rally locally so people in the City could easily attend—instead of out at Northern Illinois University...another large venue that is 50 miles away.

Shame a mob shut it down :(

The culture of the campaign isn’t about policy. It’s about attitude. A person can very earnestly and respectfully argue for border security - as almost EVERY Freeper has done here. That would be a culture of respect and thoughtfulness.

Yet in spite of years of being on the same side POLICY-WISE, we’ve got people making snide comments, saying false things, and avoiding the issues in favor of smearing and slamming the character of the person they’re posting with. It’s an attitude - kinda like saying Fiorina looks like a horse instead of actually engaging with the content of her policies.

Ben Carson has said there are two Trumps - the one who is thoughtful and deep-thinking, and the one who’s “out there”.

I think Cruz is saying it might help everybody - including the “culture” of Trump’s campaign - if Trump stuck with the deep-thinking side and left out the violent and/or insulting side. A person can hit hard on policies without being violent.

I have 4 nephews in the USMC. I cannot describe the reaction when Trump said that if he gave illegal orders he WOULD be obeyed. My sister was chilled to the bone with the question, “Or what? They will obey illegal orders, or what?” It seemed to be a threat, and it sent chills down the spines of my nephews and their parents. That’s not the culture we need. That’s Obama’s culture, and we’ve already screwed our military people too long under a lawless Obama. I don’t think Trump would be lawless with the military so it’s not so much a policy issue, but that tone of threat towards those who would honor the laws and Constitution rather than slavishly obey a man is the exact opposite of what we need. It’s a cultural thing - obey me completely, be totally sold on me, or you will regret it...

So Cruz thinks this is because Trump set the wrong tone? Is it the wrong tone to say that illegals should not be here? Is it the wrong tone to say we need to halt immigration from ME countries (muslims). Is it the wrong tone to say that we should be rethinking our ROE with our enemies?

Here's why the protestors said they were protesting. Trump Rally Protest - ChicagoThey're po'd that he says these things. They're worried about him shutting out Muslims, illegals, and torturing terrorists. They're also claiming that he calls all Mexicans rapists and criminals . They think he has the KKK working for him. They are a combination of paid protestors and idiots who have nothing better to do than try to shut down someone else's right to speak. THey are a group of malcontents.

It isn't Trump's tone. It is his message they don't like.

Excellent point, Trump's message is already working. I can definitely live with that.

Every word you say illustrates what I’ve been saying. All I’ve said is that Cruz said the protesters are responsible for their actions, and Trump is responsible for his.... and yet you label me a vile person who sides with anti-American demons.

No sound thinking. Just knee-jerk, verbally violent responses. Why are your responses so verbally violent? Why do you make no effort to actually hear what I am saying, but instead attribute to me the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I actually said?

Why do you - and so, so many others here - have to be that way?

“Do you see the media manipulation here? First the KKK charge. Then all of a sudden we have a bunch of BLM protesters showing up just itching for someone to hit them. Do you see it?”

BINGO to everything you said in your comment #516. Excellent analysis.

I believe the bible tells us to clean up our own camps first before pointing out the dirt in the other. The discussion always begin on subject, content directed towards the candidate in question and then all of a sudden, the Canadian Cruz Line docks, unloads and all hell breaks loose. Darn Canadians!

Israelis are responsible for their tone. Their tone has always been to accept law-abiding citizens and to protect them from law-breakers. They are responsible for that tone and can wear that badge proudly. If they were constantly ridiculing dead Palestinians they shouldn’t be all that surprised if things got messy quickly.

The ones doing the violence are responsible for the violence.

Each person is responsible for their OWN behavior. It’s what parents tell their children from very early on. Everything we really needed to know we learned in kindergarten but somehow when we buy into a campaign it all goes out the window.

And that’s e

I don’t know what Caitlyn Jenner sounds like so I don’t know if that’s a compliment or a slam.

Which is OK because I don’t really care for compliments or slams. I prefer actual intellectual engagement.
