Clinton would edge out Trump by 13 points in a one-on-one vote, 51 percent to 38 percent, in the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey.
Trump, the controversial GOP front-runner, would lose even more soundly to Bernie Sanders should the Independent Vermont senator secure the Democratic nomination.
Sanders bests Trump by 18 points, 55 to 37 percent. Sanders picked up a surprise win over Clinton in Michigan on Tuesday, though Clinton expanded her overall delegate lead.
By comparison, Trump's rivals Sens. Marco Rubio(D-Fla.) and Ted Cruz (Texas) both fare better against the Democratic front-runner in the latest polling. Cruz and Rubio have stressed their electability in the GOP race.
Cruz trails Clinton by just 2 points, 47 to 45 percent, in a hypothetical matchup, while Rubio ties the former secretary of State at 46 percent each, according to the NBC/Journal poll.
Trump argued during a round of television interviews Wednesday morning that Republicans should unite behind him after his series of victories in the GOP race, including three on Tuesday night.
Trump, who has regularly boasted of his ability to defeat Clinton, said Wednesday on CNN that he thought she'd be the Democratic nominee.
He also argued on NBC's "Today" show that, if they united, "nobody could beat" the Republican Party.
The survey of 1,200 adults was conducted March 36 with an overall margin of error of 2.83 percent.
“The pollster”
I don’t recall giving you permission to post a photo of me.
Seriously, I was sad to hear that that guy was hit n the head by the side mirror on a speeding car and killed a couple years ago. This is not a joke. I guess he really must have been short.
Trump’s unfavorable number has gotten even worse since last month. I predicted it would be in the 70’s by November, but it looks like he may make it well ahead of then.
Because John and Micro are stealing all the voters waiting to become acolytes. You didn't see the memo?
This particular poll, NBC/WSJ, has been wildly inaccurate, and consistently.
Because a clear 1/3 of those voting on the primaries refuse to look or listen to anything Donald Trump has done or said before or after he said he would deport 11 million criminal invaders and build a wall.
Both issues there will cause major butt hurt by those so called supporters once he is President if he wins. Because as everyone clearly say in the last debate 'Everything is negotiable....'
Here is a Reality for all the Trump Supporters, He knows you will not walk away from supporting him regardless of what he says or does, so Like a battered Spouse you will take the abuse he will dish out.
Don't expect him to keep his word to you or anyone else, any more than he kept his marriage vows to at least two of his former wives.
Those and there have been a couple showing Trump narrowly beating Hillary by 1 or 2 points.
Rubio is gone because we don’t want him. Trump has not even staerted on the criminal yet. She has so many skeletons and legal violations in her closet, you can’t open the door!
Boy is that ever an old picture of Hillary!
Funny how evil ages a person.
Does carrying around all that hate hurt?
Sure she would! Of course Trump would have to have died soon after getting the nomination but hey what’s a little factual problem when you’re trying to pimp a narrative?
REALITY check! Trump has not even started on her because he WANTS her as the Democrat nominee - but again who is counting?
You have a good point about Trump not hammering Hillary yet. A lot of people seem to be missing this. Trump is going to Pillory Hillary!
Coming in July - not good for Ms. Benghazi, ya think?
