Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is projected to win the Idaho primary.
NBC News called the race for Cruz just before midnight Eastern less than an hour after polls closed in the state. Fox News called it moments later.
The states result was in great doubt leading into Tuesday's primary because of a lack of polling in the state. Most pundits had shied away from making a prediction.
The Texas senator was endorsed by Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho), an influential member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus.
Idaho awards 32 delegates on a proportional basis.

Yep, Trump will win Hawaii.
With 40% of the vote counted:
Trump - 45.2%
Cruz - 31.3%
Rubio - 12.0%
KAsich - 10.0%
We had a very good turnout in Idaho of around 215,000 GOP voters.
We delivered Cruz a winning margin of 17.3%, which was a very good victory for him.
It is clear that the race is really a two man race now.
Hehehe both of them the two people the GOPe dislikes the most.
Serves ‘em right.
Hah, turn about is fair play. They hijack every danged thread we post about Trump. Care to be fair and balanced? I care nothing, and I mean nothing, about Cruz getting a victory.
Cruz up 6000 on Kasich for 2nd place in MI, 99% in. Cruz wins ID, 2nd everywhere else. Rubio and Kas need to start thinking about getting out if “Not Trump” is serious and doesn’t actually mean “Not Cruz either”.
Yeah because Cali has swung so far right that it's perfectly in Ted's wheelhouse now. Where did I read that, maybe National Review? Ha!
Yeah he won!!!!!!
Looking good at 69% - 11 delegates at this time

Yeah! This is a nice bonus. Was not expecting Hawaii. That goodness for them. I hear they liked his military build up. Makes sense due to many military bases there and of course history of an attack.
Looking at twitter, some Rubio people really meant #AlwaysRubio when they said #NeverTrump. To their credit, some Rubio supporters see what everyone else sees, Rubio has to drop out if we are to defeat Trump. Rubio staying in prevented Cruz from getting above the 50% WTM threshold in Idaho.
Labrador is of the mormon cult.
Must be lots of them up in Idaho, taking orders from Bishop Romney.
‘It’s their victory thread. Give them a chance to bask in the glow.’
I agree. Cruz would make a much better president than GW Bush ever was. And ...
Someone showed me a bio of his wife. For all the criticism of Heidi, here’s the quick-notes story of her life:
Heidi Cruz Wikipedia Bio
Her parents ... participated also in volunteer missionary dental work. Their two children (Scott and Heidi) accompanied them on numerous missionary trips, including to Nigeria and Kenya.
[1][10][11] [12] Her brother, Scott C. Nelson, today is an orthopedic surgeon and humanitarian.[13][14] Her Finnish-American maternal grandfather served for 22 years as a missionary physician and pastor in the former Belgian Congo.[15]
Cruz announced in fifth grade that she intended to attend Harvard Business School one day, her mother reflecting that she was unsure of how her daughter knew of the school and described her as a “slacker”.[16] Cruz’s political interest developed when she traveled to Washington with her parents at age 8,[16] and grew when she was age 12 and read an issue of Time magazine concerning the 1984 presidential election, while working at a bread stand.[17]
She graduated with a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from Claremont McKenna College in 1994. She was active in Claremont McKenna’s Republican group, but was asked to resign after spying on Bill Clinton’s campaign for reelection.[16] During her time at Claremont McKenna College, she studied abroad at the University of Strasbourg.[18] In 1995, she received a Masters of European Business from Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium and in 2000, she graduated with a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.[1][11][19]
[hat tip to carry okie]
‘Rubio staying in prevented Cruz from getting above the 50% WTM threshold in Idaho.’
Good point. Cruz and Trump both want to go ‘one on one’.
Let’er rip!
Let the chips fall where they may!
I am not voting for Cruz he is just another GOPe, didnt used to think so but the mask is off now.
I am just guessing here but I bet you are a Trump supporter.
Reason being. You are nasty, a sore loser and talk down about small town America.
A perfect match for Emperor Trump and his inside circle.
I love corn and potatoes, I dont like Ted Cruz.
Wow! Such a pearl of sublime wisdom! Thank you so much for that... NOT!!!
Free Republic is so blessed to have such sublime pearls of wisdom posted like this... (do I really need a sarcasm tag?)
Better, name 3 bills that Teddy Milhous has actually managed to block?
Can’t pass bills, can’t stop bills. What has Teddy Milhous done while in the senate other than posture?
The Corker bill is another.
You are correct. And keeping track of those Freepers who have betrayed the Conservative mantra to vote for a man who is neither Conservative nor presidential.
Trump, if getting the nomination will be beaten by Hillary. Therefore the presidency goes down in flames one more time.
When that happens I wonder what the comment section will look like then.
Turnout was 44,672 in 2012 and more than 200,000 in 2016. Both Cruz and Trump received more votes than Romney.
Wow. Didn’t know anyone on this board actually wanted Obamacare like these TrumpHumpers who disparage Cruz’s filibuster.
