National Radio Talk Show host Rush Limbaugh joins Chris Wallace for an exclusive interview discussing his take on the Republican Party and the Election of 2016. 12 minute video.

“To use a sports metaphor, Trump is the lead blocker who blew a hole in the opposition line so Cruz, the ball carrier, could run thru the hole.”
While it’s true that Trump blew things up, he didn’t do it to help Ted Cruz. Any hole Trump made, has been plugged to keep Cruz out, just like the Mexico Border Wall Trump will build as President.
I think the base will accept the result of the brokered convention (when no candidate has a majority on the first ballot) only if the resulting nominee is Trump or Cruz. Cruz being the best option, because unlike Trump, he can unite the party against Hillary and won’t hurt down ticket candidates,
Cruz supported building a wall while Trump was still supporting amnesty.
If you saw Rush on FOX, GOPe is getting the broad tent with Trump, not Cruz.
Do you (or anyone here) know if this will air again at 1:00, or will the current news cycle regarding the passing of Nancy Reagan (may she RIP) pre-empt it? If it is pre-empted, is there a way to view the segment of Rush on Chris Wallace?
THANKS!
Rush and Pirro were both right. But so is MNJohnnie.
Let’s talk openly shall we? Honestly, would most Trump supporters really MIND if Ted Cruz becomes the nominee?
My guess is no. Up here in New Hampshire, there were many of us in discussion who decided that although they supported Cruz, they went it a voted for Trump. Why? To get Jeb Bush out of the race (read to get the GOPe out of the race). This is a work in progress. I predicted Trump’s poll numbers would drop AFTER Jeb Bush got out.
Rubio will burn through all of his campaign cash in FL, and if he wants to remain a senator, he’ll need to make a decision soon on staying in the Presidential race.
This will lead to a 2-man race, where the only thing standing between Cruz and the nomination will be NY, IL, CA, challenges to his citizenship. After all, Cruz is the ONLY candidate raising lots cash from the grassroots.
My wish: If it comes down to Trump needing Cruz for the nomination: Promise Cruz Scalia’s seat on the SC for his delegates.
If Cruz needs Trump: Commit to closing southern border, Trump gets a prime-time speech at the convention, and endorse Trump for NY Governor next year (With J. Pirro as a running mate).
Just my $.02.

Saw that...wow
I think he's saying he believes the GOPe will get with the program. Eventually.
But until the fat lady sings, they'll fight like cornered rats. And, having recently cornered a rat in my attic, I can tell you they are vicious little bastards.
And with the Norwegian Roof Rats we have here in Sacramento, they're not all that little.
All this talk of the GOPe leaving and forming a 3rd party run is just that. Talk. That's all they ever do as they are incapable of decisive action.
Quote:
“Lets talk openly shall we? Honestly, would most Trump supporters really MIND if Ted Cruz becomes the nominee?”
No, of course not. But the fact remains, Ted Cruz has ZERO chance of being elected President of The United States. As Limbaugh would say: Zip. Zero. Nada.
LOL! Duh - found the attached link to the utube vid.... (sheepish grin)

WALLACE: The big story this week is the open warfare inside the Republican party. In a few minutes we’ll talk live with former governor Mitt Romney, who launched a blistering attack against Trump this week. But, first, the king of conservative talk radio, Rush Limbaugh, who joins us from his EIB Studio in Florida. And, Rush, welcome back to Fox News Sunday.
RUSH: Chris, thank you. It’s great to be here. And I just... I want to let everybody know at the top: Folks, he may have to interrupt me —
WALLACE: (chuckling)
RUSH: — because I don’t usually speak in 10- to 11-minute segments. So do not get mad if he has to interrupt me to keep him on the track he wants to stay on. How’s that?
WALLACE: Thank you. That’s a dispensation from the pope. Thank you very much for that, Rush.
RUSH: And I’m gonna do my best. Brevity is the soul of wit, so let’s go.
WALLACE: Okay, let’s go. Let’s start with Mitt Romney’s speech this week in which he basically joined the “Anybody But Trump” movement. You say that that is gonna backfire with Trump supporters, and other voters are gonna see it as the establishment trying to tell them what to do. With Mitt Romney listening, explaining what he’s missing.
RUSH: Well, it’s all that and more, but — and it’s not unprecedented. His dad did much the same thing against Barry Goldwater with a cabal of Republican establishment guys back in 1964. The establishment... This isn’t new. The establishment not wanting outsiders, not wanting conservatives isn’t anything new. Now, Chris, very briefly, I think there’s something remarkable happening here that nobody’s talking about. Well, they’re skirting the issue. For the longest time the Republican Party has told us that they can’t win with just Republican votes. And that’s why they support amnesty.
That’s why they support the Democrats on many of their issues, to go out and get Hispanics or other minorities. Well, guess who’s doing it? Donald Trump is doing it! Donald Trump has put together a coalition — whether he knows it or not, whether he intended to or not, he’s put together a coalition — that’s exactly what the Republican Party says that it needs to win! And yet look what they’re doing. They’re trying to get Trump out of the race, because they’re not in charge of it. They’re not in control of it. And it’s the most amazing thing to watch this happen. Governor Romney comes along and tries to talk people out of Trump, and that’s not gonna work. You can’t talk his supporters out of supporting him. The only guy that’s gonna be able to do that is Trump himself.
WALLACE: Okay. Well, let’s talk about that, because there is a lot of commentary — and some of it coming from conservatives — who say that the Republican Party is in danger of tearing itself apart. We’ve seen splits many times before over political philosophy, but that’s not what’s happening this time. This is the establishment, the elite of the party versus the grassroots base.
RUSH: Exactly. But it really isn’t anything new. They were this way with Ronald Reagan, before Reagan was elected. They tried to deny Reagan in ‘76, and they tried to deny Reagan in 1980. They’re not conservative. This is... You know, when I hear Governor Romney in his speech last week talk about how the Republican Party must stand for legitimate conservative values, they don’t! That’s why they’re having the problem they’re having.
They’re not conservative. They’re being run by their donors. You look at these primaries so far. Do you realize they don’t like Cruz, either, Chris? In fact, maybe they dislike Cruz more than Trump. But Cruz and Trump are the only guys that have won anything. The establishment candidate in this race cannot get noticed. The Republican primary voters — whether they’re closed primaries or open — are voting for anybody but candidates attached to the Republican establishment.
WALLACE: I know that you think that Ted Cruz is the real conservative in this race, and we’ll discuss him in a moment, but let’s talk about Donald Trump first.
RUSH: Sure.
WALLACE: How would you feel...? You talked about him bringing new people into the party. How would you feel if he ends up as the Republican nominee for president?
RUSH: Well, I would feel much of the way that I feel when anybody is elected. Could be... You deal with what you end up getting. I’m not under any illusion, Chris, that I have any ultimate say-so in this. I’m like anybody else that’s in media: I’ve got my opinions; I share them. I’m not afraid of them. But you don’t win everything, and, ultimately, you have to take what you get. I think, with the case of Trump, there’s a much bigger upside than downside.
A lot of people disagree with me on this. But for the people who want somebody not of Washington, it’s serious this time. It’s real. The disconnect between the Republican Party establishment — and the Democrat establishment — and the people of this country is longer, broader, wider than I have ever seen it. These people in the establishment have been telling us they’re the ones to fix everything, and everything they’ve tried to fix they’ve botched: TARP, the recession fix such as the stimulus bill.
Look at a college education. A college education now is an impediment because of how much it costs. A college education is no longer a step up. The American people have worn out their patience being told by their so-called betters that, “You don’t quite know how to live your lives the right way. We need to arrange things for you so that you can do better than you would do yourself,” and people think it’s the other way around now.
WALLACE: Let’s —
RUSH: They would rather invest in themselves than listen to a bunch of people in Washington who do not have a record of fixing anything.
WALLACE: All right. Let’s talk about Marco Rubio. He had a tough night last night, three thirds and a fourth. As we pointed out, Trump won two states; Cruz won two states. Afterwards Trump called on Rubio to drop out and make this a two-man race between Trump and Cruz. You live in Florida. Is Marco Rubio finished?
RUSH: I don’t see where he’s getting traction anywhere. And, again, what’s harming him? You know, when Rubio won election, he was a Tea Party darling. He was a Tea Party favorite. What happened? Gang of Eight. Whatever the reality is, the perception is that he went to Washington and threw in with the quote/unquote “establishment.” He cannot recover from that, has not been able to recover from that. He is seen as now the candidate the Republican Party and its donors have decided to glom onto next. They tried Jeb. You know, look at Jeb Bush: $150 million, and Jeb actually stated in December 2014 that he was gonna win this primary by not winning it. He was gonna win it without winning base voters. They have made it clear they want nothing of their base. They’re embarrassed of their base. Marco now is attached to that establishment. I don’t see his future, not in this particular cycle.
WALLACE: You have not endorsed a candidate, but you talk very favorably about Ted Cruz. In fact, the other day you said he’s the closest we’re gonna come to Ronald Reagan in our lifetimes. Now, I didn’t know Ronald Reagan as well as you did, but I did cover him for eight years as president. I’ve gotta say that I felt that Reagan was more inclusive than Cruz is, more about trying to soften the edges to get more people inside the tent.
RUSH: I don’t think that’s strategic. I think you’re talking about personalities. And I said this on the air the other day. I think Senator Cruz’s strategy is that there’s four-and-a-half, five million Republicans who didn’t vote in 2012. This is the conventional wisdom. And they didn’t vote because they didn’t like the nominee. He wasn’t conservative enough. There was a religious component. Who knows what? Anyway, Senator Cruz thinks that, if he can get those voters, and everybody else votes the same way they did in 2012, that he can win in a landslide.
So he’s tailored his message for a specific conservative evangelical. I think it’s limited his appeal. I think he has the ability to appeal to everybody. That debate the other night that you guys did — I don’t mean this to be insulting to anybody; I’m just telling you what I saw — he was in a different league. He was in a different league on a different planet. Everybody says, “We need substance in these debates.” You got it. You got it from Cruz. The other guys were doing what they were doing. At one point Trump even had to say, “Yeah, I... Whatever Ted said, I — I — I agree with it.”
He’s just in a different league. He understands conservatism ‘cause he is. And he is a nice guy. He’s a likable guy. He’s not crazy, he’s not nasty, and he certainly is not a liar. He’s a down-the-middle guy that anybody could trust. He has got plenty of integrity. This is what happens in politics. The establishment doesn’t like him, either; it’s not just Trump. And that’s because he is who he is. He is conservative. He does want to get government out of people’s lives. And that? We can’t have that in the establishment.
WALLACE: All right. Let’s look down the line a little bit. There’s a lot of talk among the “Stop Trump” movement about a brokered convention.
RUSH: Oh, yeah.
WALLACE: First of all, what do you think is the chance of that?
RUSH: Well...
WALLACE: And, second, if they go into the convention and Trump doesn’t have the majority — doesn’t have 1,237 but he has more delegates than anybody else — what happens if “the establishment,” as you put it, keeps him from getting the nomination?
RUSH: Well, you keep a sharp eye. Who runs this convention? The establishment! (chuckling) These guys whoever they are — I mean, the power of the Republican Party — they run it. I was looking at the rules the other day. Rule 40 determines everything that you asked me about. If Trump does not get 1,237, the delegates are pledged to him whether they want to vote for him or not on the first ballot. After that, it is wide open. But there’s also, at least as of 2012 — and I think it’s subject to be changed any time they want. Candidates, in order to be considered at an open convention, have to have gotten at least a majority of delegates in eight states. They can change that rule any time they want. They can change the rules whenever they want. There are meetings coming up prior to the convention. So they will do... I predict that if they can’t stop Trump in the primary process, they will make an effort to stop him at the convention. I mean, Governor Romney has pretty much telegraphed that.
WALLACE: And what would happen if that were to pass?
RUSH: If that happens, there’s a walkout. If that happens, then you’ve got utter chaos. Because it will exemplify, typify exactly what has happened to the Republican Party and its base.
WALLACE: Here’s the question I get most often, Rush, from folks I run into: “How does this story end?”
RUSH: I think it ends with everything working out. I think it ends with a nominee. I actually think, when we get down to this summer and this all comes together and the pressure and intensity now is taken care of, I think we’re gonna have a nominee, whoever it is, and I think we’re going to have support for the nominee. I think we’re gonna move forward, because I think at the end of all of this everybody’s gonna ultimately realize that it’s the Democrat Party that is the most destructive force in this country — it’s not one of these Republicans — and they have to be stopped. And they have to be stopped in this election if this country is to be restored to its founding principles and the ideals that a majority of Americans associate with this country. The Democrats have to be stopped, and that’s going to be what ultimately brings everybody back to sobriety.
WALLACE: So, bottom line: You do...? All this talk about a rupture, a shattering of the Republican Party — and if Trump wins the nomination, there will be a third-party run — you think a lot of that is overblown?
RUSH: I do, but, look: I’m rarely wrong, but it could be. There might be a third party. I just think that the realization that Hillary Clinton and the Democrat Party pose the greatest threat to our future — children, grandchildren, all of that — is gonna bring everybody back to reality. The Republican Party may be forever reconstituted and changed, which may not be a bad thing, either, in and of itself. This... Chris, this is real.
This is not a phase. It’s not a temper tantrum. The average, ordinary American — who I believe makes this country work — thinks the Republican Party is actually oriented against its interests, and does not understand or believe the crisis they think the country’s in. So the party will not be healed by any of this. But I think clear heads will prevail, and the correct enemy will be identified — political enemy will be identified — and efforts will come together to defeat whoever it is they throw up. Democrats, I mean.
WALLACE: Rush, thank you. Thanks for your time. Always good to talk with you. I don’t think I interrupted you a single time. I gotta applaud both of us for that.
RUSH: Thank you, Chris, very much. Great to be here always.

“Rubio...and if he wants to remain a senator, hell need to make a decision soon on staying in the Presidential race.”
Rubio made the decision NOT to run for re-election for his Florida senate seat last year. He did NOT file papers to run for re-election and his seat is and OPEN seat. Some folks are posting that Dr. Carson, who is now a Florida resident, ought to run for it.
Whether you or anyone likes Rubio, he did make the decision to ‘go all out for the presidency’ rather than like some candidates in the past, run for either the presidency or vice-presidency and run for re-election as senator/congressman at the same time. I think that LBJ ran for the senate when he also ran for VP.
For flamers: I eliminated Rubio from consideration for my support early on. I”m a confirmed supporter of Harold Stassen for President.
Wallace is a liar.
I don t know about you, but I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, We must broaden the base of our partywhen what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents.
It was a feeling that there was not a sufficient difference now between the parties that kept a majority of the voters away from the polls. When have we ever advocated a closed-door policy? Who has ever been barred from participating?
Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?
Let us show that we stand for fiscal integrity and sound money and above all for an end to deficit spending, with ultimate retirement of the national debt.- CPAC 1975

Rush was perfect today.
High points:
Wallace: “Well, lets talk about that, because there is a lot of commentary and some of it coming from conservatives who say that the Republican Party is in danger of tearing itself apart.”
Rush: “Theyre not conservative.” - something that many reporters attempt to do - conflate the Republican party with Conservatives in an attempt to denigrate Conservatives. And Rush gave the examples of how the Republican party attempted to stop Conservatives - Goldwater and Reagan to nail down the point.
Not just the grassroots base but the Conservatives as well!
Rush: “ For the longest time the Republican Party has told us that they cant win with just Republican votes. And thats why they support amnesty.”
“Thats why they support the Democrats on many of their issues, to go out and get Hispanics or other minorities. Well, guess whos doing it? Donald Trump is doing it!”
So when someone actually does what they’ve been begging for, for decades, goes out and does it, they go against him.. facepalm....
On a brokered convention:
Rush: “If that happens, theres a walkout. If that happens, then youve got utter chaos. Because it will exemplify, typify exactly what has happened to the Republican Party and its base.”
Trump and Cruz both say this same thing. Cruz at the debate and CPAC said so. Rubio, Kasich (and perhaps Romney and Ryan) are counting on it.
And I’m glad he said this (twice):
Rush: “ I think were gonna move forward, because I think at the end of all of this everybodys gonna ultimately realize that its the Democrat Party that is the most destructive force in this country...”
“I just think that the realization that Hillary Clinton and the Democrat Party pose the greatest threat to our future children, grandchildren, all of that is gonna bring everybody back to reality.”
“the GOP can’t let the democrats win because the Scalia vacancy absolutely needs to be filled by a conservative. There is no hope for this country if a liberal is appointed to the SCOTUS.”
Romney’s get-Trump speech has finally laid naked for all to see that the Democrat party aren’t the REAL enemy of the people, instead the REAL enemy is the GOPe, the fake opposition party to the Democrats. The Democrats no longer pretend to be what they are not: they now overtly campaign as the party of national socialism, period. The Democrats have also repeatedly demonstrated that they are willing to sacrifice their individual members to advance their socialist agenda, e.g., Obamacare cost them the House and the Senate. The GOPe is willing to sacrifice nothing.
The GOPe is interested in nothing but keeping their own gravy trains chugging along. And thus with Romney’s get-Trump speech, we all have proof positive of what we’ve known all along: the GOPe is nothing but the minority partner of the Uniparty, but that’s quite good enough thank you very much, just so long as their gravy trains keep pulling into the hog trough station, loaded with all of those free shrimp cocktails and caviar at the posh gala D.C. soirées, free jet trips around the world, free five star hotel living, free five star restaurant dining, and free skybox seats at the major league sporting events, all paid for by we peasants and lobbyists.
As Breitbart.com said last week, Romney is the hill that the GOPe chose to die on. Either this speech:
1.) helps Trump because the GOPe’s out-of-touch attack on the GOP’s leading candidate supported by the largest number of rank-and-file voters is simply more gasoline dumped on nearly 20 years of already red-hot anger, thus further propelling Trump towards being the GOP nominee, in which case the entire GOPe lobbyist, special interests, consultant class complex dies;
or 2.) this last-gasp GOPe attack hurts Trump, leading to a brokered convention with some loser the rank-and-file voters hate, leading to a Hillary victory and the loss of the Senate and House as the rank-and-file GOP voters finally say enough is enough and stay home, culminating in the final, permanent, destruction of the U.S. Constitution when Hillary appoints Barrack Hussien Obama as Antonin Scalia’s replacement.
This lose-lose position taken by the GOP aristocracy is typical behavior by the Stupid Party, unlike Trump’s positions where he wins with nearly any outcome, as explained by “Dilbert” creator Scott Adams:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kydKTVLmP58&feature=youtu.be.
My only concern is that the democrats would challenge eligibility AFTER CRUZ got the nomination. It needs to be settled law before the convention.
