CNN anchor Jake Tapper repeatedly asked Donald Trump on Sunday to denounce David Duke's support for his candidacy, but Trump insisted he didn't know anything about about the former KKK grand wizard.
"Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say that you don't want his vote and that of other white supremacists in this election?" Tapper asked Trump on "State of the Union."
But Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, said he didn't have enough information to answer the question:
I don't know anything about David Duke, OK? I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So I don't know. I mean, I don't know did he endorse me or what's going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists. And so you're asking me a question that I'm supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about.
BuzzFeed reported last week that Duke, a prominent white nationalist, urged his supporters to back Trump. Duke was quoted saying on his radio show that "voting against Donald Trump at this point is really treason to your heritage."
On his Sunday show, Tapper continued to press Trump on the subject.
"Even if you don't know about their endorsement, there are these groups and individuals endorsing you. Would you just say unequivocally that you condemn them and you don't want their support?" he asked Trump.
But Trump again insisted again he didn't know about Duke:
I have to look at the group. I mean, I don't know what group you're talking about. You wouldn't want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about. I have to look. If you would send me a list of the groups, I will do research on them.

Sounds like something Robert Byrd would say to Hillary supporters.
In this situation, though, he turned the question into a gotcha question with his response.
In this situation, though, he turned the question into a gotcha question with his response.
“Trump is an idiot.”
Perhaps, this however was a brilliant response to a leftist attempt at entrapment and assigning responsibility to republicans because some random nobody nutcase happens to support them.
Its also stating very clearly we don’t trust what CNN has to say about anyone. We cannot condemn someone on the alleged reporting of CNN.
Do you genuinely believe that Trump does not know who Duke is?
I don't understand your point. Could you clarify. It sounds really interesting I am just not following it exactly. Thanks.
The microphone wasn’t picking up the questions very well so it was hard to tell who asked the question. Trump didn’t play with him though.
Trump cannot help it who supports him, but he can dismiss the nuts who endorse him. Anyone who knows who David Duke is knows he’s not one we want in our camp. Well, at least that used to be true before Trump.
Trump is a counter puncher. The others lied and threw mud first. He defended himself with equal and greater force. Looks like the GOPe gave up on no attacks on fellow Republicans a long time ago. Just listen to Mitch McConnell.
Sounds like a media inspired ambush of Trump. Just how much power does the KKK have to swing an election? They are a joke. Most are probably FBI informants keeping an eye on the “leadership”.
Seems reasonable to me...he was too busy building skyscrapers in New York to care about some nutcase in the South.
Is this another attempt to smear Trump for what he DIDNT SAY?
Why doe he always look like he is crappig his pants?
Good for Trump! The typical conservative would be running around in circles.
Not a Trump fan but he’s not responsible if some scumbag endorses him. The best thing to do about David Duke is not even mention his name.
Why not? they are doing it to Cruz with Beck
That bears repeating. All we are seeing is a typical leftist attack technique. Plenty of people with noxious views or personal character vote for candidates of both parties at every election. Nobody in the media is pointing out that in the last Presidential election the winning candidate had the support of a large percentage of the crack cocaine dealers and users in the country, for example.
Of course if a candidate repudiated a group of voters, then the same media would accuse them of being "divisive" or "not having a big tent".
Yet another BS technique from the leftist media.
I don’t think even Trump could be this ‘Stump Stupid’, could he??
Funding PP is bad enough, but being this stupid?
I have to go with you on this one. He needs to issue a statement at this point.
Someone asked about this in the presser with Christie and Trump said he didn’t know about it and that he denoucned it.
End of story.
Tapper needs to try to keep up.
