White House says Obama ‘regrets’ filibuster against Alito nomination in 2006

The White House said Wednesday that President Obama "regrets" his filibuster against Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito in 2006, but insisted the situation was different than Republicans' current vow to block any nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

"These are two different things," said White House press secretary Josh Earnest. "The president's objections to then-President Bush's nominee were based in substance."

In 2006, then-Sen. Obama and 23 other Democrats -- including Hillary Clinton -- tried to filibuster Justice Alito's nomination. He was confirmed for the high court anyway.

BULL!!! It was based on the fear of letting allowing a Latino on the court that was appointed by a Republican...because the disgusting race baiting narrative of the left needs constant protection from reality.

What the Republicans need to do is ask themselves “What would the dems do in our position?”

Then they’ll know what to do.

Well of course hypocrite 0bama regrets his filibuster now, the shoe's on the other foot.

The reason why the Alito filibuster went nowhere was because there were more than enough Democrats who said they would not vote to uphold it. So will the Democrats try and turn it around now and say that since they worked in a bipartisan fashion to bring Alito's nomination to a vote, the Republicans should do the same for Obama's nominee?
