A procession of law enforcement officers early Sunday escorted the body of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia to a funeral home in El Paso, Texas, where officials are waiting to hear whether an autopsy will be performed....
Lujan said if an autopsy is requested by Scalia's family or ordered by a justice of the peace, then an El Paso County medical examiner would likely perform it at the funeral home.

The point is, he was one of the highest ranking government officials in the US and an autopsy should be required. My brother was a harness horse driver, at fifty-three, just after finishing a race and taking the horse to the barn, collapsed. It was a state controlled racetrack, a squad was imminently available but could not resuscitate him due to what we found out later a massive heart attack. An autopsy was ordered by the state officials, we the family had no choice.
The idea of hands folded on chest and crumpled sheets doesn’t necessarily suggest foul play. When I’m tired and really ready to go to sleep I’ll often lie down on my back in a similar position and the next thing I know, I’m awakening a number of hours later with totally undisturbed sheets. My late mother had a serious, nonfatal heart attack that hit her so fast, she just dropped. Scalia could have fallen into a deep sleep and been hit by that kind of heart attack. However, I agree with other posters here that an autopsy would definitely be appropriate.
It might have been a heart attack, induced by an agent introduced in his food/drink/etc.
did he have a purple blankey and pocket change?
Perhaps Dr Huxtable could asst to rehabilitate his self
Why WOULDN’T they perform an autopsy? What kind of crackpot question is that? The guy was supposedly found dead alone, he could have died any number of ways. Heart attack, suffocation, poison.
His family was against it? Some family, if that was my dad I would sure as hell be demanding an autopsy. All of a sudden he is found dead and they are OK with that? Holy smoke, I’m smelling some major BS going on with this guys death.
What does Drudge have up on its page right now in the subheadlines, upper left hand corner?

At the very least, this doesn’t seem like a tidy way to handle a death. I know this place sounds like it was in a very remote area.
I agree. The whole thing is perfect for a novel.
Please, an autopsy is needed.
......and it should be done by the Doc who the family wants.
Especially with a Supreme court justice who died out of the blue while the Demonrats are in power.
I suspect he was murdered and want it investigated.
The implications of deciding NOT to do an autopsy on a man whose "unattended" and unexpected death could change the entire direction of America are incredible.
Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara pronounced Scalia dead over the phone. She said no autopsy was necessary and that the death certificate will say the cause of death was natural.
Additionally, there appear to be violations of Texas law requiring an autopsy.
The miraculous ability of Judge Cinderela Guevara to determine the cause of death over the phone and the lack of an autopsy are irregular, to say the least.
Family has refused an autopsy.
He won’t rot. They can keep them on ice for months.
