Pope Francis to stand with migrants at U.S. border

Pontiff's show of solidarity during visit to Mexico

Pope Francis, who has spent the past several months pressing nations, including America, to embrace those fleeing the unrest in the Middle East, Africa and Asia with open arms - and open borders - is now taking that stance to a new political level and planning a solidarity stand with migrants along the U.S.-Mexico boundary.

Market Watch reported Francis is due to arrive in Mexico on Friday for a six-day visit. And as part of that visit, he is planning to stand on the U.S. border, in Ciudad Juarez, and deliver a mass.

The town is located just 90 yards from U.S. land.

About 200,000 are expected to turn out for the mass on the Mexico side, and another 50,000 from Rio Grande in Texas, the Wall Street Journal reported.

"This is one community, despite the fence," said Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi, during a press conference reported by Market Watch. "I think it will be moving to see this single community even though it is located on two sides of the border."

Immigration has been a top issue during this presidential campaign season, with both Donald Trump and Sen. Ted vowing to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Trump in particular has sounded the alarm on illegals in the United States, promising to deport the 11 million who are breaking the law with their presence. And he's also come down hard on the refugee situation, calling for a blanket halt to immigration of all individuals coming from Muslim dominated nations in order to allow U.S. authorities time to catch up...

Remember when the signs said “Catholics need not apply.” Those were mainly Italian Catholic immigrants.

This MAN is squandering the hard won moral authority of the person filling the office of Pope.

It is impossible for anyone to be certain he will go to Heaven because no one can be certain he will not commit a mortal sin shortly before death.

That is not what God's Word says.

They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." Acts 16:31

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:13-14

And I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. "I and the Father are one." John 10:28-30

Can you give me a Bible verse for what a "mortal sin" is apart from other sins? Where does God say that? Thanks.

It’s sickening to see a Communist Pope telling sovereign countries what to do and encouraging foreign citizens to invade the US. ....I hope we have a large armed force at the border there to prevent a mass rush across the border.

That was before we became a lawless country under Obama.

It is impossible for anyone to be certain he will go to Heaven because no one can be certain he will not commit a mortal sin shortly before death.

Actually Rome warns about is presuming you are "assuredly in the number of the predestinate; as if it were true, that he that is justified, either cannot sin any more, or, if he do sin, that he ought to promise himself an assured repentance; for except by special revelation, it cannot be known whom God hath chosen unto Himself." [Trent, The Sixth Session, CHAPTER XII, http://history.hanover.edu/early/trent/ct06.html]

However, with her dead gospel and other aspects of her deformation, Rome has sadly become as the great gates of Hell for multitudes.

And during that mass with hundreds of thousands present, how many more will use the opportunity to violate our borders? And with full blessing of Frances....

One morning I’m going to wake up and read that 1000 poor little Muslim migrants stormed the Vatican over night. They destroyed the Swiss Guard immediately, beheaded the Pope and everyone else inside. Then they set fire to 2000 years of Christian History.

I will remember this article when I read that.

The Bible says that some people will go to Hell, correct?

Well, mortal sin is what causes that.

You might want to re-read Ephesians and Colossians. Pretty clear you salvation is secure because of the shed blood of Christ.

If the Roman Catholic position is true, and if I were catholic, I'd never let a priest out of my sight.

My salvation is secure because Jesus Christ has accomplished his work. That is what Scripture teaches. It is absurd to say that I am incapable of committing a sin that constitutes rejection of that grace, and Scripture does not teach absurdities.

13When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14 NASB

What sin can you do that has not been canceled out, taken out of the way and nailed to the cross??

All my sins are forgiven. Except any that I commit tomorrow, and am not contrite for.

Scripture teaches that God stands ready to forgive all sins. Scripture does not teach that God can forgive unrepentant people.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life." John 5:24

7In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight 9He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him 11also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, 12to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. 13In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:7-14

John and Paul disagree with you.

If I understand roman catholicism correctly.....if you commit a "mortal" sin without benefit of being forgiven by the priest....then too bad.

You're consigned to an eternity in Hell??

Can you in any way square that away with the two verses I posted from John and Ephesians?

Easily. A person who commits a mortal sin is REJECTING the grace offered to him by God.

You’re not going to say that Scripture teaches that people who REJECT Jesus Christ are going to Heaven, are you?
