A list of the most violent cities in each state has been released, with St. Louis, Missouri taking the top spot. Compiled from data released by the FBI charting crime in the first six months of 2015, the 'Gateway City' is followed by Memphis, Tennessee, Detroit, Michigan, Birmingham, Alabama, and Rockford, Illinois, to round out the top five. The violent crimes listed by the FBI include rape, robbery, aggravated assault, and murder. Because the data excludes states with cities that do not have populations over 100,000, Delaware, Maine, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming are not listed and ranked.

“St. Louis usurps Detroit to become most violent city in the US: Gateway City is worst for rape, robbery aggravated assault and murder according to FBI data”
The Ferguson effect.
What? Chicago didn’t make the list?
I’m shocked that Chicago is not in the top 5.
St. Louis usurps Detroit? The nerve!
Can we have a recount?
I’ve never been to St. Louis, is that another one of those cities run by conservatives for the last 50 years?
Michael Brown gives a ‘better’ excuse to riot and pillage. With Detroit, the only thing to be mad at is the EPA (which is a religious deity to liberals, so they would never express anger towards it).
Probably because Ndamagung Suh no longer lives here.
Not according to the article it said crimes were already on this rise before Ferguson.
It’s gotten so bad in St. Louis that the funeral homes give volume discounts! (thank you very much!)
Apparently they only list one city per state, that being the top city for crime in that state. Otherwise, Chicago would have definitely made the list. Rockford must be worse than Chicago. Who would have guessed.
Hmmm....
I wonder if anything happened in the St Louis area recently, that may have caused this.
Perhaps enough of the ones causing crimes in Detroit have finally made the grade to meet their maker. Not to worry the next generation is preparing to take over the crown once again. Just give them a little time.
I guess gun violence doesn’t count.
One suspects that the Chicago (and probably many other cities as well), are perhaps intentionally and artfully under-reported.
No facts, but it's a strong hunch that they just might have ways to tidy up some of the embarrassing statistics.
