Ted Cruz apologized to Dr. Ben Carson on Tuesday after the Texas senator's campaign was accused of trying to sabotage his opponent's chances in the Iowa caucuses.
Cruz's campaign blasted out a report Monday night that suggested Carson was going home to Florida instead of campaigning after the Iowa caucuses - something Cruz said Tuesday is "fair game" - but admitted that the campaign should have corrected that report when it became clear Carson wasn't dropping out of the race. He was just going home to get "fresh clothes."

I’ve been under the impression that the twitter referencing Carson, simply noted he was “out”, not that he was resigning or leaving the campaign. In other words, he wasn’t getting the 20% of the votes which would make him the serious competitor, therefore the Cruz campaign would likely receive a percentage of the Carson supporters in their campaign.
The colloquialism is being spun to make Cruz look dirty, which in itself is the dirty politics,....which is why it’s being published by MSNBC, the author of dirty politics.

He obviously figured it out eventually because he renounced his Canadian citizenship.
That he didn’t worry about it until it was an issue he had to settle is not a big deal to me. Can you tell me right now how much you get in your parents’ will? If you said you didn’t know would you be lying? I have a busy life and often don’t get around to things until I have to and God knows Cruz has been busier than me so who am I to throw rocks?
IIRC he said his mom had always told him he had to actively affirm Canadian citizenship to continue to have it after 18 (which sounds a lot like what has been argued here regarding Obama’s Indonesian citizenship) but it turns out he had to actively renounce it to lose it. Or something like that. I’m not really following it. But if he had a US passport and could prove US citizenship I can understand why the tyranny of the urgent may have kept him from checking whether he had Canadian citizenship.
Factcheck looked into Obama’s citizenship issues and claimed he had British, Kenyan, and US citizenship. And that’s not even counting that the only records that were presented showed Indonesian citizenship. Did Obama not know all that stuff? Considering the long, long threads by people trying to sort it out, maybe he didn’t. He probably just thought he was Kenyan until Lolo adopted him, at which time he became Indonesian.
I have no idea whether he checked with Ted first. I know that is not Ted, and I think you also know it’s not Ted. It’s Steve.
But even at that, I don’t see a lie there. It STILL looks like Carson is out. There are no events listed on his campaign website.
agree butter. I think Carson IS on the verge of dropping out and instead of acknowledging that he’s faded as a candidate, he’s blaming another candidate!
Either he’s weak of character or he’s being put up to it to hurt Cruz....or both.
I don't understand how anyone with any familiarity with the situation would read that tweet and decide that it meant anything other than he was ending his candidacy.

It is reported in the media that team Cruz was telling Carson voters in Iowa that Carson is dropping out after Iowa. That is not true. Also reported that team Cruz told Carson voters that Carson was making a big announce tomorrow. That was not true. We know for a fact that the word to spread the lie that Carson was dropping out came from high up in team Cruz. Did Ted know? Seems very likely he did. He has hired as his campaign managers one of the dirtiest players in the game so I am not going to give team Cruz the benefit of any doubts over dirty tricks.
How about giving Carson some respect, and let HIM be the one to announce his withdrawal, at a time and place of his choosing?
If my state’s primary was today, and the only thing that mattered to me was character, I would vote for Carson. Not Cruz, not Trump, not Rubio.

The NH staff may have told the CRUZ team CARSON was almost finished. The same thing happened to WALKER and PAUL if you remember.
Obviously it’s not OK to lie. As I said to the other poster here, I am not going to go on a wild goosechase over each accusation of lying; I’ve wasted too much time even just dealing with this one, and my life requires me to not waste a lot of time right now.
Without having followed closely, the eminent domain ad seems to be half-truth. Donald tried to use eminent domain for his own financial gain but did not succeed. If Cruz presented it as if he had succeeded, that was not correct. It is correct that Trump attempted it. So a half-truth. Not good.
But this thread is not about that. This thread is about Carson saying Cruz apology (for not getting CNN’s report updated quickly) is not good enough. And people here are talking bout Cruz’s sleazy tactics and how this confirms what a liar he is. On this thread and elsewhere I hear that language thrown about but I don’t hear anybody substantiating it regarding the Carson episode.
The closest anybody has come is a Cruz IA speaker who is a freeper and who said he was disappointed that Steve King ran with CNN’s story even though Carson’s campaign manager appears to have corrected the story in a tweet one minute after the initial CNN tweet. Did the Cruz people see that tweet in the thick of caucus preparations? Who knows. This guy’s disappointment seemed to be that this was another SNAFU that hurts the Cruz campaign.
If the tweet that Red Steel brought up is genuine, the Cruz camp may have gotten confirmation from Carson’s people (maybe those who had just quit the NH Carson campaign to join Cruz’s) that he was going to quit - which could be the source for their comment that Carson was going to have a big announcement next week. If so, that would explain why they told newgeezer that there was more to the story than was being said and it would explain why they wouldn’t answer what the big announcement was that their email had alluded to - since Carson should be able to make his announcement on his own terms.
It would also explain why that tweet was deleted, if Carson was now rescinding what his people had told the Cruz campaign.

I would expect that behavior, i.e., lying and stealing votes, from a Democrat every day of the week. Even from a GOP candidate dancing around the edges of ethics with no particular religious faith. But from a guy whose candidacy has been touted as one small step lower than the Second Coming of Christ? ... not so much.

How the HELL do you claim to know whether or not Mitch tricked him? Have you been privy to all the communications between them? If not, you don’t know beans and pretending you do is a lie. ANOTHER lie.
Also, having CARSON’s entire NEW HAMPSHIRE staff on board will bolster his chances for next week. It is interesting CNN and FOX suppressed the fact that CARSON’S staff jumped ship on him. (Could it be the campaign coffers were getting low? CARSON has a history of running through his campaign cash for the good life.)
Give me the false quote from Cruz’s mouth. They said he was stopping campaigning. Look at the schedule on his campaign website and try telling me with a straight face that what Cruz said was factually incorrect.
Or don’t. I’m sure you’d still be able to tell me that with a straight face, even though the empty campaign schedule is right there for you to see.
That ad is a bald face lie. The entire premise of the ad is that Trump used eminent domain to get rich, That is a LIE LIE LIE.
