That he didn’t worry about it until it was an issue he had to settle is not a big deal to me. Can you tell me right now how much you get in your parents’ will? If you said you didn’t know would you be lying? I have a busy life and often don’t get around to things until I have to and God knows Cruz has been busier than me so who am I to throw rocks?
IIRC he said his mom had always told him he had to actively affirm Canadian citizenship to continue to have it after 18 (which sounds a lot like what has been argued here regarding Obama’s Indonesian citizenship) but it turns out he had to actively renounce it to lose it. Or something like that. I’m not really following it. But if he had a US passport and could prove US citizenship I can understand why the tyranny of the urgent may have kept him from checking whether he had Canadian citizenship.
Factcheck looked into Obama’s citizenship issues and claimed he had British, Kenyan, and US citizenship. And that’s not even counting that the only records that were presented showed Indonesian citizenship. Did Obama not know all that stuff? Considering the long, long threads by people trying to sort it out, maybe he didn’t. He probably just thought he was Kenyan until Lolo adopted him, at which time he became Indonesian.
