An Indictment Against Conservative Media
RedState ^ | January 31, 2016 | Susan Wright

...At this very critical juncture in our history, while our nation and our liberties have been ravaged by the Obama years, and life as we know it in this nation hangs precariously by a thread, Fox News, Limbaugh, Levin, and Hannity have gambled with our future, knowing we have no collateral to back up the game. For months, these fair weather friends of conservatism have heaped slovenly, starry-eyed adoration on Donald Trump. Trump - that gilded toad, who's conservative history began at about the time he decided to run as a Republican has been shoved in our faces from the day he announced, garnering twice as much attention as any actual, proven conservative candidate by Fox News...

Mark Levin's fans are voicing feeble defenses of the man these days, pointing out how harsh he's being with Trump. GEE... Welcome to the party, Mark! For months, Levin couldn't stop talking of Trump's brilliant strategy, how he was tapping into conservative angst. He wasn't PC and the so-called establishment couldn't stand it! Oddly enough, in 2011, Levin said of Trump, "Trump is NOT the real deal. He will get Obama re-elected. This is not a game. This is not a circus. He is not a conservative... We should not encourage this," But a mere 4 years later, Levin was one more clown under the Big Top. His recent return to his senses is too little, too late...

Mark Levin has turned against Trump as Trump revealed himself for what he is, something other than a conservative, a narcissist, an opportunist who opposes conservatives from the left, a man who is too risky to put at the top of the ticket (the last conclusion is mine). Should Mark Levin have turned against Trump sooner? Yes but his sin is one of timing, and the sins of those who cozied up to the GOPe are far worse...Today, Mark Levin is not our problem, Donald Trump is.

Yep! True FReepers, will come to regret throwing Ted Cruz under the bus in their fanatical support of Donald Trump. At least Mark Levin never threw Cruz and Carson under the bus at Trump's bidding like many here have done! It is so sad to see.

Disagree. Trump is a breath of fresh air, who understands we need conceptually a revolution, not nibbling around the edges. Levin’s “Liberty amendments” a good example. We don’t need “balanced budgets” but a national reawakening that America NEEDS to be great. Politics follows culture (Andrew Breitbart) and Levin is still fiddling around in the politics. We have moved WAY past that.

I honestly don’t think Sanders’ followers are salvageable.

If there gets to be more of them, then neither will the Republic be salvageable.

I sense you are causing a disturbance in the force.

And now your neighbors all know!

“Politics follows culture (Andrew Breitbart)”

Chronicles Magazine was making this same argument back in the ‘80s, in fact it’s why Leopold Tyrmand founded his magazine.

It’s why mass immigration of foreign cultures poses such a threat, the culture changes through their influence and politics follows.

It’s why California transformed from Reagan Country to Obama Land in one generation.

Bingo. Why is it that American military power disintegrates with a homosexual agenda relentlessly pushed? Same thing.

NO MORE.

Paragraph 1, sentence 2:

. . . toad, who's conservative history . . .

should be

. . . toad, whose conservative history . . .

Stopped reading right there.

Salem’s flagship station brought Mark Levin over from KABC. They can’t very well syndicate him when he’s already contracted with Westwood One. Who he is syndicated with is irrelevant to whether or not Salem wants him as part of their stable.

Trump has had ties to Breitbart for a few years now (2010-ish), through Katrina Pierson. Perhaps even longer. His money has gone to Breitbart for a good while.

Levin is syndicated by Cumulus, not Salem. Certain Salem stations clear him.

I agree with Red State and I support Trump. Trump was liked by these hosts because he was hurting the establishment candidates. That was cool until his harm to them started to carry to harm to Cruz. Conventional wisdom was Trump would have flamed out by now and Trump supporters were expected to gravitate to Cruz. That didn’t happen and doesn’t appear likely to happen. And now Trumps focus is no longer on establishment candidates but Cruz.

These hosts are no having to live with the consequences of their childishness. Levin has been the most vocal. Limbaugh dances around the issue, but I’ve seen little barbs from him. My guess is over time Trump gets McCain and Romney treatment from Limbaugh.

These hosts and columnists played with matches.

You’re underplaying Salem’s efforts to recruit Mark.

“Salem SVP of Spoken Word Format Phil Boyce said, “Rarely do you have the chance to add somebody of Mark’s quality in market #2, and we decided it was an opportunity we could not pass up. Hugh Hewitt is also a class act so running these two back to back makes this lineup even stronger.”

KRLA Dir. of Programming Chuck Tyler said, “Getting Mark Levin has been on my bucket list for years. What a team!”

For now he’s Cumulus/Westwood One product. Is he being wooed by Salem? Certainly possible. I’m not sure what Cumulus owned KABC is running in afternoons. And it’s possible one is paying the other for the clearance.

My bigger point was the balance of the post. Trump was fun for these guys while he was killing 3stablishment candidates chances. Trump is now messing with their preferred choice. Trump didn’t play to the script and have a bottle rocket trajectory. With Cruz possibly hurt, tomorrow will tell, we don’t know if the wound is a set back or mortal. But Trump was supposed to be a footnote by now. Even he admitted to Stephany this morning he was surprised by his status at this point.

So what happens if Cruz is mortally wounded after tomorrow? I’m not sure. My guess is by the end of SC, if hurt tomorrow he will bleed out by then. Will his supporters go to Trump? Depends on how brutal the punches get. At the end of the day, I don’t think most will.

“I’m not sure what Cumulus owned KABC is running in afternoons.”

It’s a local drive-time team of Jillian Barberie and John Phillips, both veteran LA broadcasters. KABC is going with more local talent.
