The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.
The text reads:
"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".
In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

It has now been confirmed â The photograph of Ted Cruz campaign shaming letters is legit (see below). The letters are officially from the Ted Cruz campaign.
Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler confirmed to IJ Review that the mailer was theirs in a phone call Friday evening, saying that the targeting had been âvery narrow, but the caucuses are important and we want people who havenât voted before to vote.â
From Jan 2013 to Jan 2016, Cruz missed 132 of 1,005 roll call votes, which is 13.1%.
This is much worse than the median of 1.7% among the lifetime records of senators
currently serving. The chart below reports missed votes over time.
“sundance” is scummy.
Paid Trump staffer.
Attacking Jim Robinson’s #1 candidate.
Sick.
If I had to go to some damned Caucus where I had to convince others to vote for A over B, I would not show up either.
That is bogus. One Man One Vote! And in the privacy of a booth.
Though at least in Iowa your vote (if you get to exercise it) means something. By the time my state has a primary the selection is usually done.

In the Cruz version, a guy named Vince rolls up in a 64 Chevy Malibu, stuffs the hapless voters in the trunk of the car.
I can’t believe it is real!
I would be SO mad if I got one of these.
The schadenfreude will be epic.
I don't know what his problem is, but there is something that some people have noticed with Cruz and that is he has no ability to stand on his own...
While running for Senate, he was down like 2% until Palin came in and ‘helped him’; then he went to the Senate and he isn't liked there, the rest of them just stay away from him, and I have noticed since this presidential campaign, Mike Lee has backed away from him as others have...
He has his name on a lot of other peoples bills and amendments, but haven't seen him do anything other than piggy back on people...
He has done that during the campaign, and is so obvious that is how he was with Trump...seems like he was for the H1B visa bill, now he's against it; if someone does something, he tries to copy them doing it, hence the names of ‘Me2Ted’ or ‘Copy Cat Ted’....
He was given a rare opportunity at the last debate the other night to shine, and he blew it...during the break in the debate, from the clip on the internet that I watched, nobody would talk to him, he went up to Rubio, he turned and walked away, on down the line, he is not liked and the desperation of bring someone like Beck into his campaign, he might as well pack it up and go back to Texas and try to salvage what is left of his Senate Seat...he done and over...
There are things the American Voters will put up with and there are things they won't and they aren't putting up with Cruz any longer...
Good point, especially about someone who presumed to have the default position on judgment ability.
“Havana values.”
Believe it or not, the same thought did occur to me. Genetic throwback.
These things have to be slowly nurtured and carefully built up. To be savored. Monday night and Tuesday morning have great promise.
I think your insights are bang on.
Sad but true. I’m sure that everyone was hoping for something more substantial out of Ted Cruz but it didn’t happen.
He’s done.
This was exactly my reaction to the first fundraising letter I got from Cruz. It was aimed at a Christian Nationalist audience and read like a parody of something. I contacted his people to find out if it was real or a Democrat dirty trick, but never heard back.
Hear Hear!!! Our Schadenfreude will taste like cotton candy.
Oh, the bitter bile in their craws. The sweet sweet taste in ours. I can not wait.
