Republicans met for their seventh presidential debate Saturday, and we want to know who you think won.
Take a moment to click the link below next to the candidate who you thought did the best at the Fox News debate in Des Moines, Iowa. Weâve gone ahead and included front-runner Donald Trump, who skipped the debate over a conflict with Fox.

And that's why Democrats win elections. One thing about them, they stick together.
Yep. A dozen or so 100% behind Cruz. I can name names as well. Some of that group are good people, but as a whole that little cabal are vicious attack dogs for Cruz. I am going to be so glad when Trump wins the caucus, then runs the table from there on in. I will have warm and fuzzy Schadenfreude.
I said Tic Tac Toe, but pickup sticks works too. When Don Lemon cut away from him when the two former caucus winners came on stage with Trump, I thought damn. He lost. Then I remembered how many local stations in Iowa were carrying the thing live. Not too worry. Trump trumped Lemon because no one outside of Iowa cares a lick about those two (2.3% combined).
When do the ratings come out? I am so curious what Trumps #rs were vs Fox.
Cruz supporters started the mean spirited bashing last January, 2015.
At that time their venom was directed at Walker supporters.
When Trump entered the race they aimed their ceaseless fire at both.
Do you think Ted Cruz himself is as mean spirited as his supporters here on Free Republic?
Good on ya!
I don’t respect our governor because his constant flip-flopping on such issues.
Can’t even fathom how he thinks he’s going to win the presidency.
Lol. That’s what happens after a thorough Trumping!!!
Did Not Compete: Ben Carson
Overall I dont like Rand Paul, but I have to agree with the vote, he did better than the others who were present.
Strip it down to likability and it's clear, this guy is just a brilliant dryball. For many LIV's that is a voting basis. Like it or not.
I watched the Trump event, sent his vet charity $10, and had OAN commentator Liz Wheeler’s twitter up on my PC as she commented on the debate. Kasich annoys her.
I am talking about the timing. Trump and Cruz were very congenial toward each other up until a few weeks ago when they took a turn toward personal attacks. I think it started when Trump claimed citizenship was an issue for Cruz. After that it edged toward personal attacks until we see things like calling him nasty and saying no one likes him.
Seems to me that about that time is when the Trump and Cruz supporters around here started pulling out the daggers. Before that I think the majority were for either or both.
Trump 53%
I personally never got into the fray with Walker or other candidates. At one point I was hoping to see solid conservative positions from a few candidates such as Carson. Instead it seemed like the only two candidates that were committing to governing conservatively were Cruz and Trump. All the others have moderate compromises on one thing or another.
My biggest concern with Trump has always been that he would be like the endless list of others who pretended they were going to be conservative but then abandoned conservatism once they got elected.
Rubio was much like this to me. I think Cruz was exactly right in the last debate about Rubio making promises he did not keep. Cruz kept his promises.
Will Trump? Are we even clear on what he has promised to do beyond stopping the immigration of Muslim terrorists?
But back to the point: the campaign and the debates here have both taken a turn toward personal attacks on the candidates. This seems to have worked in Trump’s favor. It is something I think Cruz should completely stay away from. When he did, he went up in the polls. When he did not, Trump pulled way ahead.
Cruz needs to stick to arguing policy differences and skip trying to draw attention to things like Trump calling people fat, ugly, losers, etc. Everyone already knows this about Trump. If they do not like that, Cruz does not need to bring it up. If people don’t care, Cruz bringing it up will not help him either.
But on this forum, I get really tired of Cruz and Trump supporters making personal attacks. I would like the discussion to be about their positions. That used to be what was debated.
The debate was a skirmish. Trump won a bigger battle that eclipsed the winner of the skirmish.
You know how the MSM likes to divide and conquer us? Pit one side against the other? Trump just turned the tables on them.
The MSM is long, l-o-n-g overdue for an ass kicking.
I understood you perfectly. It’s Cruz or no one for you. Brilliant plan! After the GOPe takes out Cruz, due to people like you, we’ll get Bush as our nominee.
That's the question of the day in my opinion. And there should also be many news stories about how Cruz was trying to insert poison pills back in 2013 as the bill was being debated. Having seen a single one linked.
I think the legalization, but no path to citizenship was a pretty common compromise position some advocated to help pass the bill. And it's been a pretty popular fence straddler's position for some Republicans.
“The Canadian is as appealing a candidate as dry toast. I watched the eventual nominee in a heartwarming and inspiring show of patriotism with our wonderful veterans and Americans who want to make a difference.
The clips Iâve seen of Cruz however have not been impressive and he is hardly a leader or even someone who can play one on TV for a brief debate. Thank god for Donald bc Teddy would get crushed by the Socialist or Shrillary.”
I have to agree. I was really excited about Cruz until I saw him early on, I think at CPAC. I thought Walker outshined him and was more electable. Now Cruz has to even go farther to the Evangelical right to fish for votes to try to win Iowa. Even if he does win it, which is becoming unlikely, he’s done after that. He just doesn’t have “it”, which IS needed to win.
“Oh, please. The Don is playing Star Trek 3D chess with freaking portholes and the rest of them are playing pick-up sticks. lol!”
And he didn’t just shoot Fox News on Fifth Ave., he nuked them.
