Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has "turned out to be a nightmare for conservatives," and put some of the blame for Roberts' presence on the Court on 2016 rival Sen. Ted Cruz.
"Cruz fought like hell to get Justice Roberts in there. Justice Roberts turned out to be an absolute disaster, he turned out to be an absolute disaster because he gave us Obamacare." Trump told ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos on âThis Weekâ Sunday.
Trump repeatedly went after Cruz, who served as a law clerk for Supreme Court Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist from 1996 to 1997, saying Cruz supported Roberts when he was nominated to the Court in 2005.
Trump noted that Roberts had two opportunities to overturn the Affordable Care Act, which was most recently upheld by the Supreme Court last summer, adding that Roberts "gave us Obamacare. Almost as much as [President] Obama himself."
"Justice Roberts could've killed Obamacare and should've, based on everything - should've killed it twice," Trump said. "Ted Cruz is the one that was promoting him."

LOL
I am quickly getting where I will stay home instead of voting for him.
He said she’d make phenomenal SC justice. That’s the topic here.

No the topic here is that Ted Cruz brought Roberts into the Bush administration via the Florida recount.
Then he championed him for SOTUS.
Ted is a constitutional “expert” and might have known better.
Trump made a comment on his sister that anyone with a sister, who was a judge, would say.
Freepers aren’t constitutional scholars no matter what they think of themselves and Freepers did not know Roberts personally.
“He championed him as a sound Constitutional man”
Coincidently, that all I hear about Cruz. And that’s where trust comes into play.
It was also said as a compliment to his sister, but then, you wouldn't understand that.
Because we really didn’t know much about him....just as we didn’t really know much about Cruz when he was running for the Senate; but, now we do.
“FReepers have short memories......Everyone was for him before they were against him.......LOL!”?
That’s because everyone here heard him described as a solid constitutional believer. (sound familiar?) Also, nobody here knew he was a closet homo. That little tidbit was kept very quiet inside the beltway.
“and Freepers did not know Roberts personally”
Nope, but I know a homo when I see one. That famous photo of him with two other guys away for the weekend together? Please. And he did pro bono legal work for a linchpin homo rights case in Colorado.
That’s about all I need to know about him personally. How much time do you donate to gay causes?
I didn’t watch the Halperin interview but I recall an appearance on Hannity where he and Trump batted the idea around in a light hearted way. Sort of like when he suggested Ivanka for VP.
My point was that Cruz did know him personally, did bring him into the Bush administration, and did support him for SCOTUS.
Thanks for your replies:
>>his sister is very much older than he is and he’s smarter than to nominate someone who is quite old to the SCOTUS.
But he obviously, from his comments, thinks she would be one of the best on the SC. If that’s his judgement on who would be good, that’s telling whether it was her or someone like her.

It’s at about 16:40 in the interview. He said he thinks she’d be phenomenal, one of the best as a SCJ. Judge for yourself, but it seems a serious comment to me.
thanks again..
Agreed. Good point.
Thanks for your reply.
>>>”Trump made a comment on his sister that anyone with a sister, who was a judge, would say.
He’s being asked about whom he would choose as SCJ. He can say: she’s great, but we disagree about some key issues.
It’s an interview about serious matters and what decisions he’d make as president; it’s not a backyard barbecue.
What part of that wasn’t true.
Every bit of it is in the article.
What does this imply to you?
This isn't bringing Roberts on board the Bush team?
Obamacare was not set in stone when Roberts was under consideration for the SCOTUS ... Chief Justice Roberts, however, set it in stone by his asinine and convoluted reasoning.
hoosiermama, would you mind reminding us again about Trump saying his sister would be a good nominee for SCOTUS?
I think you can clear this discussion up.
Thank you. Advocacy 101 there...
